Seagate Wireless Plus 2TB Portable Hard Drive with Built-in WiFi (STCV2000100)

    • It's the perfect way to keep and share your media library when you are on the go.
    • But a much more convenient way is, to map it as Network Drive (just use the IP address, and if that does not work, add a media extension (i.e. /#video if you have a folder called video). If you are working with playlists, it is cumbersome to create these in the Seagate Media Player
    • The drive is going back, and I'll again be looking for an effortless way to stream movies to my iPad.
    • However, I don't always want to share all of my files and cannot find a way to password protect specific folders/files.
    • We RV all over the country in retirement, and the most reliable way to maintain an internet connection is via a mobile hotspot, in our case a Verizon MIFI 4510
    • The biggest issue that might be able to change with firmware is the way you browse files
    • The software simply does not present customers with large number of files in a positive way
    • Way too slow to be practical
    • There doesn't seem to be an easy way to get it to connect to its SMB shares from the same wifi network it's on like mobile devices can
    • I was hoping for a more elegant way to keep the device in-sync with or up-to-date with our media folder.
    • I got the Wireless plus as a gift and thought it would be a great way to expand the storage capacity of my Ipad.
    • Either way, it works great
    • If you find that you've added a thumbnail-less file and want to fix that, the best way I've found is to deliberately delete the file from the device, then upload the new, thumbnailed
    • All of this would add up to an amazing way to extend the storage of an iPhone, iPad, Android device, or computer if only it didn't have some serious drawbacks with indexing; glitches with the wifi; and horrible interfaces and missing features of the mobile/web apps used to interact with your stored media
    • For starters, the best way seems to actually embed the cover art thumbnail into your video file (if you're using .mp4, for example, you can use a program called MetaX to do this with ease; it costs $9.95, but
    • What an amazing way to have a personalized iCloud!!. Thanks to both Seagate and Anazon for making it possible
    • We learned the hard way by making the mistake of watching a movie live-streamed from Netflix shortly after we acquired our MIFI
    • When you have a lot of content, I wish there was a better way of it being organized on the device
    • It is by far the most convenient way I have found to make all my important data portable.
    • Nice and easy way to store photos, music, and more.
    • Either way, when you try and play a movie or song, it's a coin flip on whether it will play, or the app will freeze
    • Also, there does not seem to be an intuitive way to set up a playlist and save playlists.4.
    • After purchasing our hard drive, we found out the hard way that we were not able to do what we intended to do with the hard drive
    • I had to realize this on the hard way
    • I own an iPad that has really no reliable way of connecting USB (that I have found
    • I think they have lost the way on this one
    • A much more convenient way is, to do this in iTunes (another reason, why you should use an iTunes library to manage the media files on the Seagate Wireless), and then export these playlists as m3u files to the Seagate drive
    • The best way to access content on this drive is if you have mapped the drive, and have a pc
    • and you still have some thumbnails that aren't showing, the best way to fix this is with a database rebuild
    • Also, neither the SWP, Seagate Media app, nor web app seem to understand that the article "The" is not an ideal way to alphabetize the name of an artist
    • Handy way to free up space on my hard drive and access files from laptop, tablet and iphone not to mention streaming directly to my Apple TV.
    • The graphical user interface (GUI) for all these methods is essentially the same; simple (but in kind of a tacky way) easy to use, and seafoam green
    • A much better way to organize your music on the hard drive is, to create a new iTunes Library that uses the Wireless Plus at it's source
    • I wanted to add audio book tracks, but it has a crazy way of ordering them that ignores leading zeros so track 10-01 ends up coming before track 01-01
    • I really like the way this drive works
    • This is idiot proof way of getting ALL your itunes movies/shows, etc TO GO.
    • A clean convenient way of expanding the disk storage on my ultra thin Microsoft Surface Book
    • Some of the 720 mkv's had the wrong audio track playing (background commentary) and no obvious way to switch tracks.
    • Either way this device is Dead
    • No where in the support/forum does it provide any helpful way to resolve this other than other folks complaining of similar issue ([...
    • Now its spinning but lost its way.
    • To upload files, the best way is to connect it through usb to a computer, which loses completely the wifi feature
    • when it works, it dosnt work the same way all the time
    • This is very bad as I am on the free way and will need to pullover to get is going again.---------------------Took this on a road trip and it dropped the wi-fi just once
    • I bought this because it sounded like an especially convenient way to access all of my media files wirelessly and perhaps even on the go
    • To me, this is the easiest and fastest way to wirelessly watch movies on my laptop
    • Means, obsolete - as you can't charge it anymore
    • it worked just as advertised and just as I had expected it to work
    • It works as it is claimed
    • The drive itself is relatively small and works as it should.
    • Followed the instructions at support site, tried SSID with and without pwd, tried installed app as well as through the browser and also did not work
    • This confused me because as soon as it disconnected
