Seagate Wireless Plus 2TB Portable Hard Drive with Built-in WiFi (STCV2000100)
Capacity:2 TB
With Seagate Wireless Plus, you can enjoy your media and access your files without wires or the Internet. This mobile storage device broadcasts its own Wi-Fi network, so you can wirelessly stream your media and files to your tablet or...
So bottom line if you are looking for either a portable, wireless solution or both the Seagate Wireless Plus is for you.
So a buyer will eventually be forced to rent/buy memory capability on a "CLOUD" storage device in order to access large files that can't be stored on the K_Fire HD unit (which can only be accessed thru a router in the buyer's home or hot spot somewhere); a thoroughly useless solution when traveling if not available
Either it works, in this case, it is a better solution, or it doesn't
This hard drive is great and fits for what I have been looking for - a large portable & wireless solution that I can carry with me
For a device that is touted as a solution for photographers, having no RAW image support is a big letdown.
It seems to work well streaming videos to any device that can receive Wi-Fi.
If you want a good streaming hard drive, that you can take with you and play full length movies, you might wanna look elsewhere.
Once you enter your Wi-Fi SSID and password, you can connect to this drive wirelessly with your PC- Pass through internet lets you be connected to this drive and the internet but this slow streaming.
If you want a good streaming hard drive, that you can take with you and play full length movies, you might wanna look elsewhere.
The streaming works great if the drive is plugged into the charger or even using the battery
Normally I like to connect external hard drives directly to get the fastest speed possible, but this device particularly intrigued me for use with my Kindle Fire, which doesn't have the ports needed to connect an external device, and has very limited storage space
you need to carry around micro SD cards (but better than limited storage on iDevices).
I use the device as additional storage for my Ipad and it works wonderfully.
Especially when phones and tablets have surprisingly limited storage
The Seagate Plus works beautifully by creating a wireless "hotspot" and then transmitting the data directly to my I Pad without having to use the limited existing storage.
The drive itself is relatively small and works as it should.
Will update this review with progress if I make any....but for now my message is buyer beware
To my amazement and disappointment I received a 'file format not supported' message.
Unhooked from MAC, went into wireless mode, saw it pop up in the WiFi list, clicked on it and got the message 'unable to join the network'.That was 5 hours ago and quite frankly I'm ticked
Followed the instructions at support site, tried SSID with and without pwd, tried installed app as well as through the browser and also did not work
I`ve come only to dislike the indexing function which rather slows it at times, but in general its a very useful piece of kit to expanding the memory of my iPad Air 2
Wireless Plus has many issues due to:-inefficient and problematic indexing of media that causes:--- unacceptably long startup times--- kills battery
Was awesome used it all through deployment added stuff as I
This thing is a jewel when you are not having to update firmware and deal with bad file indexing and finally done in my Apple DRM
: Seagate released a new firmware for the Wireless Plus drive which improved a couple of things : The indexing of the files runs much faster and the drive no longer falls into 'sleep mode'
" but then I had to deal with iTunes to sync the converted DVDs onto my iPads -- and the number of movies was limited by the storage capacity of the iPads
Use is for streaming MP4 files I've created by ripping my DVDs
Now we can do without hard dvds or worry about full cell phone storage space
So, 100 hours wasted on backing up my dvds, and now I have spent 200 to waste 100 hours.
I am in the process of downloading all my hard dvds to my wife's mac book pro using handbreak
