The open construction of the HD598 does not lend itself to anything but a quiet environment
-
these headphones have another great quality if you are primarily in a loud environment
-
So if you are looking to use a nice pair of headphones at work and have a relatively quiet work environment, I would definitely recommend the 380's!
-
It's not bad by any means, but gel does more to block out sound, perfect for my loud environment
-
I wanted a wide, deep sound stage, on which any range of music can be enjoyed, even in a noisier environment or while traveling
-
Also, the ear caps do a fair job of keeping outside noise out, but if you are in a noisy environment and really want to keep the outside sound out, and the inside sound in go with something like the Shure SE215-K which is actually noise isolating
-
So not recommended for physical activity or warmer environments
-
They are terrible on an airplane or other noisy environments, but great in the studio for isolation/monitoring or on-location as
-
They isolate you so well from the environment that you can wear them to mow the lawn or in other loud environments, and still hear your music at reasonable levels

Reviewed after two weeks of use in a noisy office environment

Great headphones for when I don't want to use a headphone amp (these don't require one), and when I'm in a noisier environment (where open air cans wouldn't work).

Not only for shooting but for any noisy environment such as work shop electrics (tile saw).

Ok for noisy environments, but a long way from neutral balance

I was able to mix with these cans while working in a noisy environment, and surprisingly they were damn accurate to monitor mixing

I just have an easier time hearing the bass of the kick and low bass frequencies in loud environments

All in all this cans are very sturdy - AND VERY LIGHT - and this again compare to any of the cans i mentioned above - again if it would not be for strong clamping power i would keep them as spare headphones for my Shure 1540 - also Senheiser HD 380 Pro is good as portable - i like the cord and that this cans can be folded and very nice travel case
