• Reviews around cable (3.52 of 5)

Sennheiser HD 598 SR Open-Back Headphone

    • Cable with mic is good but there is no official replacement when it goes bad
    • Ultimately, found the issue was the not the cable, but my jack on my computer
    • i still thought the mic cable would be enough and now i have to buy an individual mic
    • The cables are pretty easy to attach/detach from the headphones, but they twist to lock in and will not come out by accident
    • I found the cable to be impacting sound quality as well
    • The detachable cable is great, I use this as my portable headphone although it obviously isn't great in portability since it doesn't fold
    • Comfortable+ Good build quality (even though it is just plastic construction)+ Twist-n-lock mechanism ensures that cable doesn't come loose when you move
    • Sound quality is great, just have to make sure that the cable is plugged right and all the way in, else the balance is not right
    • It's hard to find high quality, closed-back headphones that don't have a really long cable attached (like a lot of studio headphones)
    • Build quality and detachable cables are a plus.
    • They've been dropped several times, the cable has been rolled over by my computer chair a countless number of times
    • The only issue is the cables
    • Make sure you are holding onto the plastic/metal housing and not the wire cause It feels like the cable would break otherwise
    • Also, a good replacement cable will cost $18, if 4 feet isn't long enough for you
    • but i think the cable that i got is defective
    • Comes with two cables, a portable cable with a mic, and a long cable with a quarter inch plug on the end
    • The cables: these headphones are fantastic because you can remove and replace the cables
    • Misc: Both headphones come with a detachable cable, something my K550 MK II headphones were lacking
    • The long cable is fine
    • In addition, I stopped using my HD280's because the cable was not easily replaceable
    • I have knocked off one star due to the very poor cable that comes with it
    • To me, their only flaw is the cheap looking cable, thats my only gripe, otherwise, these would look like 200 USD headphones (got them on black friday)
    • Every headphone I found was open backed or the cable wasn't detachable
    • The mic cable works as well
    • my only complaint is the cable, wish the longer one was 3.5mm with a quarter inch adapter besides that these are some of the best headphones I have ever owned
    • The reason i bought a new headset is because the cable on my old turtle beach headset became brittle and cracked causing the wires to become exposed, twisted, and lose integrity making them drop sound or cause the left speaker to not function
    • They're relatively easy to transport, the detachable cable helps but the earcups don't rotate
    • Positive: comfortable pads; long 1/4" cable.
    • Extra Features: The detachable cable I feel is a godsend
    • On top of that, the cable with a 3.5mm plug is really short, probably only useful if you plan on using it with a phone, while the long cable only has a 6.3mm plug... and it doesn't come with a 6.3mm to 3.5mm adapter
    • One star off for the cable it ships with, I upgraded it online, to a better quality and longer cable.
    • Negatives: disappointing bass, lack of crispness overall, short cable for use with phone, iPad, etc
    • The only gripe that I have with these headphones is the cable
    • If you're looking to JUST use 2.5mm cables, then you have to open the ear, take off the cover, CAREFULLY move the driver off to the side so you don't damage the cables, and unscrew the two bottom screws down near where you would insert your audio jack
    • Sennheiser added another nice touch - a detachable cable and they give you two cables so depending on your listening pleasure, these will adapt
    • If you have a phone, remote cable is always fun• Not too big headphone to look like an idiot each time you see yourself in a glass or a
    • interchangeable cables are very handy.
    • But when you consider these have a closed back, a mic and button, and a replaceable cable with 2 options it was a real easy decision to keep these
    • The new cables also increased the gain by 25%
    • Pros-Amazing Quality-Great Sound-Detachable Cable-Comfortable ( barely feel them on
    • The cables are pretty easy to attach/detach from the headphones, but they twist to lock in and will not come out by accident
    • I can't possibly take away a whole star for it, because hey, some headphones at this price range ($100-150) do not even come with replaceable cables (cables that are not hard-fixed to the cups)
    • Cable is defective.
    • Both headphones had the option to purchase an upgrade (proprietary) cable, but the circumstances were different for both
    • The two included detachable cables are a useful feature.
    • Just this month a tiny plastic part where the cable locks in place broke and, although the speakers were fine, the cable would rarely make a good connection and the sound wouldn't be quite right
    • The cable is weak and it's already strained to the point where it breaks up sometimes
    • These HD598 C's use replaceable cables, which alleviates any concern I have in case I break my plug
    • I was ready to start using it right away, however the cables are not detachable
    • The problem is, I didn't want to compromise on sound clarity or quality, and it also had to have a detachable cable so I could use my microphone with it
    • Adjusting them is easy, at first putting the cable into the hole was stiff, still is
    • Love the cables, love the design, love the comfort
    • Short and light cable• Solid build• Punchy bass•
    • one side of the earphone has no sound, I don't know if the cable is faulty or the earphone
    • Two cables, both decent enough for cellphone use but need an upgrade if you really want these drivers to shine
    • I appreciate the two cables that come with it, even if it is proprietary, that didnt bother me
    • I'm not sure that the sound quality on the HD598 C's are worth
    • The 598 c's are comfortable to the extreme over my big (so I've been told ) ears.
    • Attempting to wipe them away is a hassle as they seem to enjoy further rolling into the fabric
    • I can't say I'd pay $300 to buy another pair if these broke, but I think I will enjoy them as much as I can from now on
    • Just keep in mind that when you listen to more compressed music files it may sound ok but not as Bassy or boosted as they would on something like Beats or Skullcandies
    • Is Gonna Come, as well as That's The Way and Tangerine
    • I've seen some reviews mention that for a closed headphone, the aren't as good as to be expected in terms of isolation and sound leakage, but it does it well enough for my needs.
    • Do not buy if you are a bass head looking to boom away as they are meant to be accurate representations of the artists recording.
    • The melody transparent a and bass is just enough.
    • I wanted something that could be used at work as well as at
    • Also would highly recommend for travel as they have great noise cancelation.
    • The headphone does bleed a
    • I'm no audiophile, so I won't get into all that lingo and technical jargon, but I will say that while they do lack a bit of bass as others have indicated, I think the bass sounds real clean and precise (as well as
    • The headband is made of padded leatherette and the ear cups of a very soft velour material (also replaceable!)l
