I liked the headphones for watching late night TV, pretty comfortable

It is a big issue with Netflix app on smart TV where the default is 5.1 surround

I connected the Digital optical out from my Sony Smart TV to the digital optical in on the headset base.

We've purchased four sets, including the RS 175 RF and have enjoyed watching our HD TV 100% more since we purchased our first set in 2008

Made a few adjustment by using my menu from my Sony Led TV and once setting it

I can also listen to Pandora or Slacker (from the smart TV app) but sound quality from those two sources is pretty muddy .

This AVR does not have an optical digital out and the Smart TV optical digital out is in use to deliver sound from Internet programming to the AVR

The sound coming out these headphones when watching TV is crystal clear, and they do a great job of blocking ambient noise as well.

I can hear everything perfectly, even with music, and I don’t have to have the tv volume up loud, which my wife appreciates.

I have a Samsung smart uhd tv.

She can watch TV and not be bothering any one else.

To fast forward a bit, I then connected the RS 175 to a one-year-old Vizio smart TV that was in another room and it worked fine

We all have recent TVs within the last 2 years since being purchased and the digital cord either didn't work or didn't fit

Solved the problem of the digital output from my smart TV

Now I can enjoy the audio not only from the TV and AV Receiver, from my phone and tablet works 100%, recommended

Fine product but sad face as our "smart" TV doesn't have an option for listening to the headphones and having the regular sound on

My solution was to connect the smart tv via ethernet cable

It really makes a huge difference when watching TV either by muting the rest of the outside world or by making it easier for you to watch TV and not bother anyone else.

I had to change the audio configuration to PCM to hear from the headphone, but this change messed up the TV use experience for the family when not using the headphone, as the TV now loses Dolby surround sound and the 2-channel PCM has lower quality.
