While there are several things about this game that have aged poorly (mostly the english voice acting and controls), i still think it's the best open world game ever created and it pains me that even 20 years later there are basically no other games quite like it

While people often talk about how modern open world games have surpassed what Shenmue is, I have yet to play any game that has immersed me in it's world through the insane level of detail and depth of interaction Shenmue offers

The level of detail in this game surpasses open world games made today and this game is from 1999

A chance to find the world of shenmue and enjoy it, like I did in 2000 and will again in 2018.

Unlike modern open world games which focus on land mass and inconsequential fetch quests, Shenmue invites you to interact with your environment and the fleshed out characters who occupy it

People that played Persona 3,4,5 would likely appreciate this game although it does lack complexity in the battle system, it does have a open world where you can interact and explore Japan and get a rich story

If you are a gamer who loves story and a live breathing world, its no reason not to buy this

Just the subtlety and simple things that go into this game that lull you into it's world is AMAZING.

I like to believe that shenmue have paved the way for free world role playing games.
