When plugged into a computer, the device lights up as if it works, however, it is no longer recognizable on any computer.

:)I have only had the drive about a week, so I cannot at this time comment on the long-term durability of the device as I can with the Seagates, but so far it seems like an excellent device

As for the military grade drop proof thing it does feel better than a plasticky device but does not feel “top of the line”.

I loved this device until it was all of a sudden not accessible on any device I tried.
