The main casing is made of black hardened plastic ( not ABS plastic) with embossed honeycomb design on top & bottom surface and a frosted textured 1/2" border

This is like comparing an iPhone that is wrapped in a hard plastic case and then calling it military grade armor

They don't stick out past the hard plastic top and bottom however so not sure how effective they would be in dampening the shock from a fall on the corners which is probably the most lethal spot

This is a plus compared to other mainstream EHD out there, where you have to pry their brittle plastic enclosure and may cause scratches or damage of the casing
