    SilverStone Technology Home Theater Computer Case with Aluminum Front Panel for E-ATX/ATX/Micro-ATX Motherboards GD08B

    • I just ordered a silent cpu cooler to resolce this issue, and I'd advise anyone else building with similar goals (htpc et al) to do so as well
    • At CPU idle, the CPU is running 2 degrees cooler than the case temperature
    • It does impose some size limitations on your CPU cooler and GPU cards, however
    • If you use a smaller mobo and smaller graphics card or even a nice cpu with some on board graphics
    • They are deep enough that you can use good quality CPU coolers with heat pipes though I gravitate to all copper coolers in the 2U or 3U configuration

    • Users should select a board with the CPU area firmly within the four screwholes closest to the I/O shield, to keep the CPU cooler from interfering with the 5.25" drive bay.
    • My only complaint is there doesn't seem to be enough space between the edge of the MoBo and the fan mounts on the right side of the case (when facing from front) to allow installation of a liquid cooled CPU cooler
    • I have a Noctua Ultra Silent CPU Cooler Cooling NH-U9B SE2 that fits nicely in the case and 2 more 120mm (Suscool) for intake on the side
    • I needed to get a low profile cooler - Noctua L-Type Premium Quiet CPU Cooler_ Retail Cooling NH-L9x65and even with the adding 2 x 80mm rear fans and 2 x 120mm side fans (to the exisiting single 120mm fan
    • I have had to order a different CPU cooler fan to replace it.
    • Beware of CPU cooler height limitation, per documentation
    • All four of my cases run very cool - CPU temperatures for 100w silicon all run at <40C (not thermal margin real temperature) at 20% load
    • So far, nothing has gone above 40 degrees Celsius under idle (CPU has actually yet to go above 36) and under strain, everything stays within a perfectly acceptable range of 70-80 degrees
    • Also, if you choose to have a standard size optical drive, the height of your CPU cooling fan will be limited.
