It does have a lot of cool Sega characters though.

For example, the stages from Samba De Amigo are super vibrant with rich colors, the characters you see in the game, and the houses and cacti dancing to the music

There are plenty of colorful characters and some great looking courses but no matter what level your on it all just feels the same ... each time you play

but it's ok....cool to play, and awesome characters.

It's not as if the characters are unfamiliar.

Lots of tracks, cars, great characters, upgrade options

All-Stars make up the roster here includes primarily of Sonic franchise characters like Sonic, Tails, Eggman, Amy, as well as characters like Ryo Hazuki (Shenmue)

If anything, perhaps some more well known characters and franchises could have been represented (Toejam and Earl, Streets of Rage, Ecco, Golden Axe etc...) but that is a minor criticism though it could be argued they should be available by DLC, though apparently won't

This is a top tier Kart Racing game starring well known and obscure Sega characters.

And all the characters, aside from Sonic and friends, are a bit obscure.
