The update broke the unit's ability to autodetect my router's IP address and, because customizing the IP and DNS addresses are not separable, I and a whole chain of Sony support levels have been unable to make the unit work with the dynamic DNS router with which it worked just fine before the update

Sony hasn't been progressive in many years, and we were pleasantly surprised with both the TV and blu-ray player.

great device, works great just like all good sony devices, top quality at an affordable price

It also supports Sony's HMDI Bravia Sync which turns on the TV and sets the input to DVD when you press play on the DVD.
