I emailed with SONY tech support and the last resonse is that SONY is sorry but there is nothing that they can/would do.

SONY has a firmware problem and rather than do the right thing and take care of their customers, they say that they MAY considering future upgrades to resolve the issue, but won't gaurantee

If you already have an HDMI receiver, I would recommend the less expensive Sony BDP-S350 or Panasonic DMP-BD35K.

In summary, Sony entices you to get a tool from its website with instructions on how to use it.
