Great picture and features make it a number ONE purchase!

The playback its good and audio, but the remote functions are somewhat poor when trying to figure out how to get the movie started, and the audio feature its not working on that remote neither, have to use the TV remote for that function.

It does have a nice feature of checking internet connection and even Netflix servers which all checked out working and connected.

I haven't noticed the upscaling, but it seems to be a dependable, rugged Blu-ray player, and the "smart" features are a real plus

The UI is pretty weird and unintuitive, and, more importantly, there is no way to disable "featured apps

The indicator light is a most helpful feature to have in dark movie room setting and improvement compared to other Blu Ray brands

The main new feature of the 2015 Sony players, though, is support for Playstation Now

Great up-scaling feature for older, non-blu-ray DVD's

It is very easy to use, with many nice features we didn't have on our older Bluray player (easier menu navigation, ability to search for new movies, better picture quality, better wireless access).

Streaming features are great and the picture quality, including up-sampling, are as good as much more expensive players

Neither player supports the new 4K Blu-Ray format, both have the same wireless features and apps and both can handle SACD

My favorite feature is the "Top Menu" button that goes directly to the top menu of the DVD / Blu-ray disk

I have not experienced the upscaling yet, but I'm sure that feature will perform well.

The biggest complaint is about an annoying "feature" that cannot be turned off

I cannot comment on the upscaling to 4k or 3D yet as we have yet to get a 4k TV- that said, those features are good to have on a player at this price point and I look forward to trying it out if I can find a good passive glasses 3D 4k TV (I have no interest in messing around with proprietary glasses or glasses that require battery changes).

Finally, the Roku stick has wonderful search feature.

Its compatible alright, but so slow as the be unusable

Two weeks out of warranty, it burned up, or as good as.

Now, on to more important issues for this new S6500: performance is very high for Blu-Ray (regular and 3D), for older DVDs as well as for streaming (Amazon Prime)

Its fast, it works as it should, doesn't freeze up, my wife loves how easy to operate it is and the netflix button is a great option, we are very pleased

But BD-R and DVD-R work fine
