• Reviews around unit (3.00 of 5)

    Sony BDPS6500 3D 4K Upscaling Blu-ray Player with Wi-Fi (2015 Model)

    • Here is the good:The unit is compact and takes up little room.
    • Great unit
    • Also, I do not recommend the unit because I found the picture to be disappointing
    • Outside of that seems to be a great little unit
    • Some units out there must work, I guess, because 2/3 of the reviews are 4 or 5 stars
    • Good unit
    • However, Sony makes you send your defective unit back first, so it looks like I'll be without it for about 3 weeks
    • When attempting to go to streaming services, this unit will sometimes freeze up
    • , THIS UNIT IS AMAZING IN 1080P RESOLUTION
    • But... the unit regularly "hangs up" and has to be disconnected from the power source to be rebooted
    • While the unit was cool, everything was fine, but then it got to be too hot to touch and everything went haywire.
    • The unit has an advantage over our Roku One in that it supports Netflix profiles, so my son can use his own profile and not clog his parents' list with kid videos
    • This unit tarnished their reputation with me
    • Unit continues to ignore the remote, even with new batteries.
    • This lead me to to believe the unit was overheating
    • This unit is lighting fast
    • If you're in the market to get a new player, I wouldn't recommend this unit but would recommend you check out the Samsung which Amazon currently has on backorder.
    • Other than needing an additional decoder for the PCM output this unit is superb, considering it cost under $
    • All around it's a nice unit, but pretend that it doesn't include a screen mirroring
    • I was not expecting how compact the unit was when it arrived but it worked out great
    • The unit also lost the internet connectivity a couple of times
    • The unit works okay
    • Other than that though, it is a great little unit.
    • The unit simply went haywire the first day I had it (6500)
    • After less than a year of light us, the unit constantly freezes when playing DVD's
    • Have the unit in bedroom, about 22-24 feet from wireless source, and have, at times, lost signal when the door was closed.
    • The only leg-up it's got on the ROKU is the Netflix & Amazon streaming interfaces are substantially better on the Sony.edit 5/30/2017: The original and replacement units both are unusable on my network (and the only devices I've ever had not work on my network)
    • Purchased 3 months ago and now report this is an awesome unit!!!!!Heads up
    • concerts very well, but the unit was extremely slow and laggy to navigate
    • The unit is nice and compact, probably about 30% smaller than my previous unit
    • with any of the other units available, some of them at 4 times the price
    • This is a simple, clean, and well designed unit
    • The unit freezes EVERY time it goes through a power up cycle.
    • Excellent unit... for only $99.
    • This unit is also very compact, and it actually replaces a much larger unit that wouldn't fit in my new cabinet [not sure what they do with all that extra space in the jumbo players - obviously not needed - who wants big electronics in today
    • Very nice unit.
    • My unit hung on its 1st Blu-ray and I needed to convince it to restart and eject
    • Strongly recommend against purchasing this unit.
    • If you're in the market to get a new player, I wouldn't recommend this unit but would recommend you check out the Samsung which Amazon currently has on backorder.
    • Nice unit
    • It's clear that this unit is a total lemon right out of the gate.
    • I don't need 3D or 4K, but reasoned that the horsepower required for these features would make the basic unit quicker, more responsive, etc
    • This unit tarnished their reputation with me
    • The unit died 20days past the return cutoff.
    • All around it's a nice unit, but pretend that it doesn't include a screen mirroring
    • This player is fast as well and even a bit smaller that other Sony units of the previous generation.
    • The fist unit was a total POS and never worked properly at all.
    • So this compact unit replaced two players, the older Sony Blu-Ray player and an SACD player
    • Compact unit- small footprint
    • If you need to play discs, go out and buy a simple, inexpensive unit
    • good unit
    • Unit works flawlessly thus far and has better than expected performance - resolution, etc.
    • Great unit.
    • So, when it worked, it was a very nice unit, but it was a battle to keep the thing operational over a year and a half
    • So the newer unit was either defective or there are connection problems with the unit
    • This unit had no issues.
    • GREAT unit
    • # told me the unit was defective and said they would call me back to schedule sending me a replacement ( Which by the way its been two weeks and still haven't heard from them. )
    • Great unit to upscale blu-ray to 4k!
    • I love this unit.
    • - it may let you watch one episode of a series then the unit just freezes and you literally have to unplug it and restart it to watch another episode.
    • Now, because I asked for a refund and refused 70%, SONY will not authorize an exchange of the defective unit either
    • The unit works wonderfully
    • Very nice, light weight unit with intuitive controls.
    • The fist unit was a total POS and never worked properly at all.
    • I HIGHLY recommend looking elsewhere, perhaps even buying a less expensive unit with fewer features, to avoid having to watch delayed audio.
    • Got the current same price competition Samsung model bdh 6500.A reliable unit but lacked all the wonderful picture enhancement settings the Sony had
    • Great unit with excellent movie up scaling
    • Great unit, LOVE the streaming apps and the detail with each, ie Netflix, YouTube etc, BD playing a breeze!
    • Great unit except for the Built in Web Browser.
    • This is a great unit
    • However, I also thought I could use this for 4K Amazon transmission, since the unit claims to upscale to 4K.
    • Got the current same price competition Samsung model bdh 6500.A reliable unit but lacked all the wonderful picture enhancement settings the Sony had
    • You have to press a button to get the info to display on the TV screen to see how many minutes have played/ how many are left in the movie.11/03 update: This unit disappoints me daily
    • This is a great unit and fits very well in a small space.
