However it seems that the mics themselves have a highly omnidirectional pickup pattern so it does not produce a strong stereo image and does pick up quite a bit of background/ambient sound.

I like the compactness and stereo capabilities, but was unable to test it because I was too optimistic and careless in ordering this as an early Christmas present for myself, and so did not discover my computer's "shortcoming" (one and only one combo-audio jack) until I tried connecting it

With the adapter the mic will work as a mono mic, NOT stereo.

I found nothing horrible about this mic in post audio editing, was able to get a good s/n ratio and with slight manipulations to certain frequencies, it sounded just fine to me
