• Reviews around light (3.74 of 5)

Sony ICF-C707 Clock Radio with AM/FM Dual Alarm and Large Easy to Read Backlit LCD Display

    • And the blue light of the display is very bright
    • VERY Bright, low light and off
    • Even on low, in a dark room the light is fairly bright, and when it's off it's annoying having to turn it on to see what time it is at a glance
    • Turning the unit around to take a look you're hit with a sharp light to the eyes and an impossible-to-read display.
    • Everyone has already commented on the noxious blue background light.
    • The 3 brightness settings are "mid-day sun", "glaring city lights" or "complete blackout".
    • Back light can be dimmed as necessary.
    • Hate the blue lights
    • I am disappointed because the instructions manual is written in a confusing, convoluted manner that I found it difficult to follow; the lighting is not comfortable, and some buttons do not respond.
    • The light is still too bright at night, so you end up turning off the light.
    • But the blue light was cool..........
    • and I like that it gives me just enough light to get up before dawn.
    • The light is too bright for me
    • I love that the light is so bright and can be dimmed or turned off if you wish.
    • But, more importantly, it puts off enough light to land a plane!
    • the display light makes a good light to turn on to see at night.
    • Light is too bright.
    • The ability to turn off the backlight is much appreciated--about the only complaint I have is that it seems like you can't manipulate the light without adding to the snooze time after the alarm has already gone off (though of course I'm always just waking up in this situation, so it's hard to tell).
    • But if you are a person who doesn't like bright lights in your room when trying to sleep, but like to glance at the time when you wake in the middle of the night and during snooze intervals (and want that interval to be <10 minutes)...this clock is NOT for you.
    • Blue light even dimmed lights up whole room
    • The lowest light before going dark it a tad too bright.
    • Light is either too bright or too dim
    • My biggest compliant with this item is the blue background light, even on dim, the light is too bright and if I turn it off, you can't see the time
    • The light is not so bright which is good for not blinding you while you try to sleep
    • Even the low light was too bright for sleeping and we couldn't read the clock from across the room (where both of us can see it).
    • The one con is that the light is very bright which can be disruptive to sleep.
    • When you dim the light, the numbers are difficult to read unless you are at specific angles.
    • The blue back light on the display makes it very difficult to read during the day no matter the intensity.
    • Light was way too bright even on "low"
    • The lowest light before going dark it a tad too bright.
    • Light is bright, but it can be turned down or off
    • But if you are a person who doesn't like bright lights in your room when trying to sleep, but like to glance at the time when you wake in the middle of the night and during snooze intervals (and want that interval to be <10 minutes)...this clock is NOT for you.
    • I have heard of people getting a tinted, transparent sheet and cutting a piece to the size of a clock and affixing to the face to dim the lighting
    • I concur with other reviewers about the blindingly bright blue display light, it assaults you in the darkness.
    • I personally like the blue light.
    • The blue light on the face is very bright and illuminates the room when dark
    • The bright blue light of the dial can be completely shut off at night, or the snooze alarm can be hit to reactivate it as a night light as needed
    • Red light is far better for clocks.
    • I like some light when I sleep, but even for me, the "dim" setting is crazy bright
    • Secondly, it may not be so bad if the light was still not so bright
    • Pros:*Adjustable light - bright, less bright, no backlight (my favorite)*Nature
    • The light is a little bright on the low setting but what I found it that unlike a white or yellow lite when my eyes are
    • so I don't have to put something over it to block out the light like most clock radios
    • Agree; the light is too bright at night
    • I purchased this alarm clock at my husband's request for Christmas and we really like the nature sounds, but the blue light that illuminates the time is really bright
    • The very bright lights up the entire room, the less bright is still too bright for
    • For anyone with sleep issues, one would know that BLUE light is the most disruptive light for sleeping which begs the question - Why did Sony choose a blue backlight
    • The blue back-lighting is definitely not too bright (at it's lowest setting).
    • The light is very bright but it does not bother me
    • Also, I hate blue lights on electronics.
    • If you do not mind a bright back light, this clock is great.
    • No light at night by design, I love it, a tap and the light comes on, tap again and its off
    • LOVE the blue led light
    • You would think these were tested before they were produced, but as I said before, the lights are too bright (like a TV set bright)
    • It has nice functionality and is not difficult to set the alarm, but the back light is a nightmare unless you like sleeping with a bright light in your face
    • Back light is much to bright - lights up the whole bedroom at night even on the dimmed setting.
    • In addition, in the bedroom at night, the clock emits a bright blue light like a nightlight.
    • Easy to use, can also dim light on clock.
    • The blue back light doesn't dim enough, but you do get used to it...
    • I don't like ANY light when I'm sleeping
    • He is very happy with it and the dimming lights make the backlight just perfect
    • As an added bonus it works great as a night light
    • Second worse part - the blue light is too bright, even the adjustment is still too bright
    • BAD that even on the lowest setting the light is MUCH TOO bright.
    • The issue others have commented about concerning the light was not a problem for me
    • It gets obscured by the too bright back lighting
    • tinny sound; paradoxically bright blue light this puts
    • I really like some of its features such as the ability to easily turn off its glowing light, the ease of switching from a.m. to f.m
    • I love the pretty blue light, which you can have on 2 settings of brightness, or you can turn it off completely
    • Also, the back light (even on the low setting) is too bright for me.
    • Easy to use, can also dim light on clock.
    • BAD:BLUE LIGHT:
    • But when you wake up in the middle of the night, you'll notice that light is bright
    • Well, for starters, if when the alarm goes off, the back-light on the clock turns onto bright immediately.
    • The small flat buttons on the top mean that you have to look down onto the radio in good light to see what you're pushing.
    • Defeats purpose of soothing sounds when light is so bright you can see through your eyelids
    • It has nice functionality and is not difficult to set the alarm, but the back light is a nightmare unless you like sleeping with a bright light in your face
    • BUT....the back light display is so bright it might as well be a night light
    • Nice L I T T L E
