They have a nice write up in the manual explaining why it won’t cancel noise as you expect but there are brands that offer true noise canceling.

I have used it on airplanes, buses and trains, as well as in office and home.

Returned them and went back to my inexpensive "noise isolating" earbuds that block out external noises much better, as well as has much fuller sound quality.

The headphones come with a two-prong attachment to use on older planes which we joked about as we have not seen a plane with those outlets for 15 years.
