Sony PlayStation 3 Blu-ray Disc Remote

    • It works as a remote should with easy of use, intuitive button locations, and most importantly (to me) a POWER ON and OFF switch for the PS3.
    • Hard to use in a dark roomANY remote button turns on the PS3
    • Issue #2: This is an issue which has annoyed me many times, and that is the sensitive buttons
    • Although the button positioning could be a bit better, I don't have any problems finding the button I need to find.
    • Also, on our Oppo DVD remote, the buttons glow which makes it REALLY nice to use in the dark or dim light that most people watch movies in
    • Well, the buttons feel better than any of my other Sony and non-Sony remotes.
    • A button with consequences this significant needs to be clearly marked with a protective cover that you have to move aside, so that there's no way you'll end up pushing it by accident without understanding what it's going to actually do.- They could just remove the "Stop" button entirely
    • Funny only the select button stopped working and unfortunately some apps don’t let you use X as
    • Absolutely terrible oversight!-The buttons are in an unexpected order.
    • so they can't bump the buttons).
    • A backlight and power button would've been nice as well
    • The stop, pause, skip scene buttons and fast forward buttons only work at specific times
    • I'd press these pretty buttons (they sure are tempting since everything else is blacked out) but in the event it somehow controls some behavior on the PS3 that would forever eliminate the color red from existence, I'm keeping my curiosity at bay
    • It has all the normally available game controller buttons put onto an easier, more straightforward remote control wand.
    • but sometimes I fatfinger the top buttons since they are so small which I wouldn't if I could see the buttons.
    • Not having an off button is weird and it is a sensitive remote in that the slightest touch on any of the buttons will turn the PS3 on.
    • Still, much better than trying to explain or guess which button on the game controller makes it fast forward
    • If button count is a factor in your decision, you won't find a better button:price ratio anywhere else.2
    • It's well laid out and the buttons are easy to hit.
    • If it's dark you might have a bit of trouble finding the correct button
    • There's a "Top Menu" button to return you to the top menu
    • I wish it had glow in the dark buttons or a button to push to light up the remote, like the other remotes we have.
    • The idea of a bluetooth remote is excellent, but the implementation here is something I regret having naively supported economically:there's no excuse for the user-aggressive button layout, there's no excuse for the lack of illumination, there's no excuse for a simple bluetooth remote being HUGE (no hyperbole...check the dimensions),there's no excuse for the dangerous plastic in which it comes sealed, requiring sharp scissors, there's no excuse for the ugly plastic of which it is made
    • THIS IS THE REMOTE FOR YOU!Easy button
    • Just use your top button (I think the triangle) and then go to menu-then hit triangle again and go right to all the secial features
    • -The buttons are hard to see in the dark, as they don't light up or glow-It does not have an indicating light for when you press a buttonOverall, it does what it should, but it's certainly not great
    • It has a nice button layout, but it really needs to be illuminated
    • The PS button works just like it does on the controller, as does the dashboard button on the 360 controller; holding it either turns on the console, or holding it while the console is on pulls up a menu asking if you want to turn off the system
    • Just hit a button and it works every time
    • As for it not having the "glow in the dark" buttons... how many of you really press all those un-needed buttons when you're watching a movie?
    • Not every button worked as expected but it works far better than the game controller.
    • My only gripe with it is that the control pad (up, down, left, right buttons) seems to stick after only a few months of use.
    • 4 - Text is too small, and buttons are often unclear
    • It still works great (buttons in good shape) after 3 years
    • Its very aggravating trying to press the stop, play, or fast forward buttons and have them not do anything half of the time.
    • In fact, it supports not only the 'press' state of each button, but also the 'hold' state, so there are effectively 102 distinct buttons you can use
    • Because of the damn stop button
    • Bluetooth is great!Sure, backlit buttons would be nice, as would a real on/off button, but the subtitle and audio buttons are worth the hassles, and it was only $20.
    • I read many other reviews and most seem to complain about the missing power button.
    • The Sony PS3 remote is great -- nice button placement and feel (although that's subjective), and since it uses Bluetooth to communicate with the PS3, line of sight isn't required!
    • the remote doesn't drain your batteries more than any other bluetooth device, you can turn it off to save power as stated above - turning it on is as simple as pressing any button for 1-2 seconds.#3 the battery cover doesn't fall off as you claimed if operated with some common sense (i.e.: don't rub it against your pants, sofa etc) - it's pretty secure actually.#4 this remote is bluetooth people and not IR capable - why don't you do your research and find out what bluetooth and IR mean, the fact that they are totally different technologies, thus this will never be compatible with an IR receiver, no bluetooth device will actually
    • It helps to use the system for people that do not play games on the PS3 because all the buttons are like a standard blue-ray/dvd player.
    • However, the remote has many seemingly useless buttons and can be quite confusing for someone who is not used to the Playstation interface
    • the buttons are very sensitive to being pressed and don't have much resistance to being pressed so even tossing a light blanket on top of it caused a button press, also the PS3 will turn on on any button press, it doesn't matter which button any will turn it on, that might be fixable with a firmware mod but as they haven't done it since the release of the remote
    • The buttons should glow or have backlighting.
    • The enter button sticks, but it works, and no problems with anything else
    • But I suppose over time knowing what buttons you want to push in the dark will become intuitive as well...
    • However, the controller is well laid out and major buttons are easy to find without looking at them.
    • It's a pain to start all the way over, but really, it's your own fault if you hit the wrong button
    • Every button you'd need is available via the remote, and none of them feel awkwardly placed like the previous remote control
    • The button was a little stubborn and took a few tries to come out.
    • Not internet user friendly (no joystick to move arrow) Could use a extra button to change
    • I had been getting along fine using the PS3 controller as the Blu-Ray remote, however I must admit not being used to the PS3's button assignments, it was quite confusing to use as the PS3 controller doesn't have enough buttons for all of the player's functions.
    • You can turn off the PS3 system by holding the "P" button just like your controller.
    • lack of illuminated buttons does not surprise me, not all remotes do
    • If you're buying this because some of your old PS3's buttons have stopped working or are behaving strangely, try re-registering the remote under settings on your PS3 before you buy this replacement
    • Most buttons work, but it’s disappointing a new remote is already having issues.
    • Some buttons on the remote such as the pause button don’t work
    • Much easier to navigate menus with than the PS3 controller as well as knowing the button you're
    • That is when glow in the dark buttons would be nice.
    • The button inside of the circle button above the PS3 button works the same as pause/play
    • I wish that this remote has illuminated buttons like remotes that come with most of higher end dvd players.
    • glow in the dark buttons for the main buttonsor2)
    • this is a surprisingly cool feature; often i'll find myself hunting for the correct button on the massive keypad in dark settings, and being able to focus my attention on the remote instead of focusing on a line of site connection is amazingly convenient.
    • If you bump a button the PS3 turns on
    • The buttons are extremely sensitive (just about as sensitive as the "PS Button" on the center of your PS3 controller
    • Between the (unnecessarily) complex button configuration and the simple fact that you can't read the thing, it makes simply watching a movie more of a chore then it needs to be
    • Thankfully, I'm pretty smart and have memorized the two most important buttons: pause and play
    • The "Top Menu" button takes you to the PS3 menu, unlike every other DVD controller.
    • Because its so easy to accidently hit a button because the buttons are so sensitive.
    • (word to the wise: use a vise to hold the control if you attempt this). My control works perfectly and I never have to worry about that stupid stop button again.
    • The only negative is that it doesn't light up in the dark or have glow in the dark buttons.
    • Trying to use the game controller was a pain, and frequently I would hit the wrong button, and accidently pause or fast forward using the game controller
    • - Poor ergonomics: no backlit buttons, no glow-in-dark for button labels, no braille-like bumps to help identify the buttons by feel in the dark
    • this remote works great, but there is one thing I would improve on it... a backlight or glow-in-the-dark buttons
    • As others have noted, it does not have a power on/off button and the buttons are difficult to see in low light
    • It has many buttons-The buttons are hard to see-Any button turns the system on (trust me, it can get frustrating)-Does not have an on/off
    • It is easy to hit the wrong button in the dark
    • a glow in the dark button that you push
    • I like using the slow step buttons to catch something in movies I never found before
    • -- Did I miss the day that original equipment remotes were affixed with glowing buttons?
    • After reading the reviews from fellow users, I was slightly apprehensive about the remote; however, the remote feels great in my hand as the buttons feel perfect.
    • Maybe white buttons on the black remote would be better or just enough...
    • Grab a butter knife and pop the damn button before you pair it with your PS3!
    • it prevents accidentally bumping the buttons on the controller.
    • Say you have the remote in one of those saddle bags for your chair and something bumps the pause button
    • However, a few minor complaints:- ANY button will turn on the PS3, so an accidental push turns
    • The biggest and most annoying issue of this remote is that it turns the PS3 on with the touch of any button and this is very easy to do on accident and with HDMI-CEC enable this becomes even more annoying because it doesn't just turn on the PS3 but changes my TV to display it automatically, a very nice feature when you want to use your PS3, but when you set down another remote next to this one and bump any button and it changes your TV's input setting because your PS3 turned on is very annoying.
    • All my previous remote controls (which have been "Universal Remotes" from various manufacturers) have included some type of light-up display, either one that is activated when you press a button or a simple glow-in the dark feature on some of the more important buttons
    • Especially, when the remote already has some silly button set-ups this would be very helpful
    • Feels nice, buttons well laid out.
    • My only minor complaint is that the stop button is too close to the skip and fast forward buttons, so sometimes I accidentally stop the movie.
    • Someone will post that the buttons actually have an importance rivaled only by the discovery of the polio vaccine or
    • I got tired of pressing the wrong button on my
    • After its register it works fine, press any button and the PS3 will turn on
    • Further, buttons are packed very close to one another, which make it easy to reach with a thumb, but also make it very easy to press the wrong button(s) - "Stop" button is inexplicably sandwiched tightly between the "Play" and "Pause" buttons, making it very easy to press "stop" button by error
