• Reviews around feature (3.79 of 5)

Sony Premium Noise Cancelling, Bluetooth Headphone, Black (MDR1000X/B)

    • Great features like tap and hold right ear to open Mic to hear what's going on around you.
    • Music is also turned down, though not paused which would have been a nice touch.+ Noise cancelation has an "AI"/intelligent tuning feature which plays a test sound in your ears for a moment and adjust the NC algorithms based on the headphones' fit on your actual ears
    • I am thrilled by my Sony 1000X for its outstanding audio quality and fantastic convenience features.
    • mainly the sound, the noise cancelling and the features
    • Noise cancellation is good, the feature that allows you to cover the right side with your hand and hear everything not just lowers the music volume but also boosts ambient and voice sound
    • While Sony has great features, It came down to sound quality for me.
    • Overall, these headphones are feature rich and would impress most anyone, but I had to return them
    • Excellent sound and noise cancellation, great features, reasonably good comfort, but atrocious build quality
    • If you like window seats you may experience a bit of feedback if the external mic is a bit too close to the outside of the plane (best I can tell it was having a bit of difficulty creating canceling waves due to the distortion of the wall next to the mic). One of the best features is the ability to select a few noise canceling modes
    • Touch control is a GREAT feature to have, I did not realized how convenient it is until I used it
    • Even it's more expensive, but based on a lof of good reviews, I gave it a try instead of Bose.+Great sound qualityGreat controlGreat features (even I didn't use all of them)Noise cancelling is as good as bose, if not better
    • I don't need to repeat what everyone else says about sound quality, the noise cancellation and the additional features because it's been said
    • Sony has heeded that advice and in doing so reminded everyone of a very important lesson --The most important feature of headphones is not falling apart.
    • What I love about the headphones are the features
    • Excellent noise cancelling feature
    • Amazing quality, love the noise cancelling features, and the sound!!!
    • Much better noise cancelling, much better overall features
    • Not only did the fan noise disappear, I could barely hear the TV.The touch controls are intuitive, the touch to allow ambient sound in is a great feature.
    • For an expensive pair of headphones I would expect a feature to turn it off or at minimum a dimmer blue light to prevent my headphones from causing seizures in those around me however, no dice.
    • The Sony's have the cool features which I am sue you know
    • The features, with a little practice, work great
    • They have some really cool features but they fall flat in several other areas.1
    • These have great features
    • I also have to admit that the "palm to quiet" feature is excellent but I do not use it as regularly as I would have hoped.
    • Touch controls are fun, silencing with cupping right ear is nice and being able to turn off noise cancelling is a great feature.
    • Features:Very useful and innovative features
    • TL;DRThey sound great, have good features but are badly made and Sony customer support is horrible
    • The features and the sound are phenomenal
    • That's with the noise canceling feature activated
    • These cans are also loaded with neat features that really work, such as a NC optimizer and a quick gesture to activate ambient sound-voice to hear someone talking to you
    • but the features, beauty and sound is not enough for me.
    • It's not as light and as comfortable as QC35.A LOT of gimmicky features but less attention to substance
    • When placing your hand over the right side you can hear the background if needed - a very nice feature that other NC headphones don't have.
    • Great noise canceling but annoying feature of turning off after 5 minutes if no input
    • Furthermore, the Sony has so many useful features, like being able to disable NC by cupping the right earpiece, or set NC to allow voice announcements, but no other sounds.
    • The MDX1000's even add some really cool new features that none of the others have, like the ambient noise pass through while in listening mode
    • I also like the voices only feature for when an announcement or significant other needs your attention
    • A very effective feature of these that has diminished the volume problem for some extent is the ability of the these to customize to your head and in doing so the volume is now more to my needs
    • These have extra features you'll have to appreciate or you're wasting its potential
    • It has convenient features as well
    • So all-in-all, the touch controls are a very nice feature
    • I have to admit that I couldn't quite tell the difference on the latter feature when I was wearing glasses vs not wearing glasses, but it's still a cool feature
    • I compared the Sony headphones to other brands/models and chose it for its nice fit and finish and great features as well as its sound quality
    • Feature rich and comfortable
    • I love the feature that allows you to hear the "outside world" by taping the earphone on the side.
    • Another great feature is that you can cup your hand over the right ear cup and everything turns off so that you can answer a question or hear something important
    • Great noise canceling but annoying feature of turning off after 5 minutes if no input
    • I'm here to tell you, there is no way to feasibly connect to multiple sources without sacrificing significant features
    • The features on these headphones are absolutely stellar and if you are a techie that wants decent sound but needs to have all of the cool gadgetry then these will not disappoint
    • Love the touch features on the right ear cup
    • I love the feature where you hold your hand over the right ear and it turns them way
    • They also have this really cool feature where if you put your hand over the right ear piece it turns off the noise cancelling and reduces the
    • They have some really cool features but they fall flat in several other areas.1
    • If you don’t care about the new “smart” features, I would suggest the older model for better pricing.
    • The added bonus is the hand over ear-cup feature that disables the NC feature, allowing you to hear what the flight attendant is asking you or what the captain is saying over the intercom
    • Of course the cool feature on the plane was to just hold your hand over the Rt ear piece and this Mutes the
    • The feature where you can hold your hand over one ear cup was horrible.
    • I love the noise cancelling feature where you can tune out the whole outside world with the tap of the right side; I usually never like the sound of noise canceling headphones, but this one is so
    • Just connect the BT and enjoy the NC feature, as the peace and quiet, as it may be
    • So these are definitely near the studio referencing sound qualitiesThoughtful Addition – Instant Decrease of VolumeIn addition, there is a pretty thoughtful feature, which is the instant decrease of music volume by cupping the right earcup
    • On my last flight, I turned my phone off to save battery power and just wanted to have the noise-cancelling feature of the headphones turned on while I slept.
    • Excellent noise cancelling feature
    • It is the most amazing feature that these headphones have
    • Ambient sound is a nice feature to have
    • Loved it, awesome features and indeed worth the
    • Walking down the sidewalks on the busy streets, I utilized this feature to hear the cars while crossing the roads and it worked perfectly
    • I like the low volume and external listen/talk feature where you cup your hand over the control pad
    • I thought the touch controls would be a gimmicky feature I wouldn't like, but now I'm disappointed when I have to use my headphones that don't have them
    • They have some really cool navigation features, including the ability to stop noise cancelling and output by touching the right earphone - great for when real life interrupts the music.
    • I picked these first because they had all the nifty features
    • This is a great feature because that is a drawback of these types of headphones, to have to keep taking the on and off when you need to hear what people are saying
    • Maybe it's a good feature to keep phone connection confusion down, but it's kind of a pain if you have multiple devices you want to switch between quickly, and I've been able to do that on many bluetooth speakers without having to do the "re-pairing".Now about sound quality
    • They are good noise canceling headphones, with good features, but almost any other review will tell you that
    • Noise cancelling features set this model apart from the competition
    • I am afraid that although all written regarding the features is valid (ambient sound options, touch option controls), the main feature for which you buy the earphones (e.g. noise canceling) is not satisfactory at all
    • Excellent features (especially the touch control), but doesn't support
    • c. reduce noise but allow some ambience in (both voice and otherwise)Another awesome feature is that if you cover the right ear muff while listening with NC on, the headphones turn off the NC temporarily and pipe in ambient audio using the two NC microphones on the outside of the earmuffs
    • I could see this being a very useful feature in a recording studio, but these headphones are nowhere near studio quality so they would never be used in a recording studio.2 - CARRYING CASE:
    • Great quality sound and amazing, innovative features
    • Nice features and really good ANC
    • and although I have some gripes about sound quality and some features, they are way ahead of competing active noise cancelling headphones (in my opinion) if you take the sound quality, noise cancellation and the features as a complete package which is why I think they deserve five stars.
    • Great sound, great features, superior to Bose in both respects
    • The ANC works excellent, the ambient sound feature is great too and also the feature that let's you hear your surroundings when you put your hand on the touch panel on the right side
    • On top of that you get useful features with the noise cacelation
    • Very useful feature for anyone who doesn’t like taking off headphones when talking to people or listening for something
    • Such beautiful headphones with some smart features, but sadly they lose it in some easy places
    • Extra thoughtful feature like instant decrease of volume7
    • The main feature, noise cancellation, is great, no matter where you are, on flight, bus or just in your office
    • The MDX1000's even add some really cool new features that none of the others have, like the ambient noise pass through while in listening mode
    • However, you can disable this feature by plugging something into the headphone jack.
    • I'm not easily impressed, but the feature set on these Sony’s are simply incredible!
    • whatsoever.-By far the coolest feature of these headphones is if you put your hand over the right ear cup, it'll instantly turn down the volume to low and amplify everything outside of your headphones using the microphone so you can talk to people like flight attendants, friends or hearing airport alerts, without having to take off your headphones
    • Either way, I found this to really be an excellent feature that let me listen to music and wipe away most background annoyance while still being attentive to announcements and information
    • I hope to find out my experience is not that it lacks the features
    • These headphones are feature-rich and if you get these, you should read the Help Guide at least once
    • really awesome sound quality and connectivity, love the touch features and the noise cancelling
    • My favorite feature is holding my hand up to the right ear to instantly enable "bionic hearing" mode.
    • Some may say sound, noise cancellation, battery life, etc are the most important features of headphones.
    • Very good sound w/ great features, but struggled keeping it on head for too long.
    • I found the cupping the ear to hear ambient noise a nice feature, but didn't like the rest of the touch controls
    • Active noise canceling feature is amazing
    • The ambient sound button was also a welcomed feature which is not hard to locate as Sony added a smaller bump to it than the noise cancellation button, it worked as intended muting various sound elements while enhancing others for the scenario needed
    • All other features are working, and are useful, ambient sound "on" is like not wearing the phones, ambient sound voice only "on" is allowing just the voices to be heard 100% clearly + some noise, and you get all the useful controls touch only
    • Amazing sound quality and lots of useful features
    • Excellent features (especially the touch control), but doesn't support
    • Amazing additional features like ambient voice etc
    • despite their wonderful feature set and build quality they fall short where it matters for me.
    • I wish it had dedicated buttons for volume up/down (I don't like swiping as sometimes I have accidentally cut the call)
    • went to best buy before Black Friday to try out the 1000x and QC35 from BOSE.1000x has higher clamp force - but not as that uncomfortable as others describe
    • I found that -- PXC550 had an evenly beautiful sound but somewhat veiled/warm, the mighty bass drum blow in "Dies ire" did not shock as on the 1000X, and the harp arpeggio in the beginning of Nutcracker Waltz was hazy on the PXC550, but delicately clear on the 1000X.
    • Everything works exactly as it claims to
    • Sony has a pocket inside for the airplane adapter, then a mesh pocket on the outside for a cord (which I don't like as it tends to snag when you're stuffing the thing inside a bag - would have rather just had the pocket on the inside)
    • I'm coming from the MDR-1A, which had a phenomenal soundstage that you could hear and feel distances with, but they started creaking as you moved your head
    • As for me, I would never be ignorant or inconsiderate as to communicate with someone in such a manner, and I would expect the same consideration in return.
    • Yeah, I don`t know if its fake advertising, if the product I got wasn`t good enough, or if my hearing is just too good, because the noise canceling was NOWHERE near the ~sound coccon~ that many talk about
    • n’t work very well, that it’s not responsive and it’s not doing what you want, but you really have to read the directions here.
