These headphones are comfortable, the sound quality and noise cancelling are excellent, and the controls are intuitive
These sound great and have good noise canceling and cool controls
Having said that, I think the controls on the Sony are much better than those of the Bose
The ambient noise modes and NC control are where the Sony really shines over the Sennheiser and becomes a much more versatile set, and the fact that the entire rest of this section is about Ambient Noise modes on the Sony are your first evidence of
B&O attempted the same capacitive touch technology on the H7 and failed miserably
I would say it is better than most of the Bose Headphones like the QC35.Sonic Capability:
The Sony sounds much better than the Bose QC35 and slightly better than the Sennheiser PXC-550, while cancelling out noise as well as the Bose and better than the Sennheiser
The noise cancelling was amazing, as good as the Bose or better
I can put up with a fit that is 90% as good as the Bose for this.
These really look cheap and flimsy, but the Bose QC 35 looked even worse
I own a pair of Bose Quiet Comfort 15 Noise Canceling Headphones that have been wonderful traveling companions over the years and one of the highest rated noise canceling headphones around, and so I jumped at the chance to see these new Noise Canceling headphones by Sony to see if they'd be better than my Bose.
That being said, many reviewers consider this headphone better in sound quality than the Bose quiet comfort 35.
B&O attempted the same capacitive touch technology on the H7 and failed miserably
They have the best overall noise cancelling, comfort, and sound quality
The Sony MDX1000 takes the sound quality of the Sennheiser 2.0's, the noise canceling and comfort of the QC35's, the good looks and highly functional controls of the Parrot 3.0, and thankfully nothing from the PXC550's
mainly the sound, the noise cancelling and the features
Amazing quality, love the noise cancelling features, and the sound!!!
While Sony has great features, It came down to sound quality for me.
Noise cancelling features set this model apart from the competition
Not only did the fan noise disappear, I could barely hear the TV.The touch controls are intuitive, the touch to allow ambient sound in is a great feature.
And I like how you can tap on the right earphone various ways and use voice activation on your phone, or disable the noise cancellation so you can hear someone speaking.
I wish it had dedicated buttons for volume up/down (I don't like swiping as sometimes I have accidentally cut the call)
Sony has a pocket inside for the airplane adapter, then a mesh pocket on the outside for a cord (which I don't like as it tends to snag when you're stuffing the thing inside a bag - would have rather just had the pocket on the inside)
Excellent sound and noise cancellation, great features, reasonably good comfort, but atrocious build quality
The headphones sound quality is great and noise cancellation is amazing
The plastic is crumbling and obviously just cheaply made
The cheap plastic band near the hinge is completely cracked on both sides, and offers no structural support at all causing the headset to sit askew on my head making it uncomfortable and unbalance
I'm sure this is perfectly secure and fine, but by comparison that same part on the Sony, where the same wiring must have been running to go to the cans, is solid plastic with nothing exposed
Love the understated, elegant look, no shiny silver plastic.
However the plastic feels strong and sturdy, in fact, the whole headphone feels like it is of good quality
The bad I am not able to hear my young son if he wakes up with a bad dream
But still works as I except.
The good I only hear what I am listening too
Had to have these replaced after 6 months of use because the hinge where the cups connect to the head band began to crack
At the six month mark though, I'm running into a defect that many others are experiencing: The hinges where the earcups attach gradually crack and fall off
The sounds are very warm, the bass is deep and not too sharp, high hats don't hurt my ears (a huge problem I had with Dre Beats), and the noise cancelling
I know that with my Bose, having air blow on me causes a small problem in the sound.
Awesome battery life, no problems with the noise-canceling or anything
The leaks is my only problem so far, which is in a very bad level
My worst problem I had with the Bose except the sound quality was changing tracks which is terrible
I found that -- PXC550 had an evenly beautiful sound but somewhat veiled/warm, the mighty bass drum blow in "Dies ire" did not shock as on the 1000X, and the harp arpeggio in the beginning of Nutcracker Waltz was hazy on the PXC550, but delicately clear on the 1000X.
Please check the other reviews and pictures, it’s a design flaw that Sony

This product has a fatal design flaw that means your headband will crack all the way through just above the earcup rotation hinge
Technology has reached a point where this design flaw is inexcusable
The headband on mine cracked after approximately 7 months of use (if it wasn't sitting safely on my average sized head, it's always cased), similar to what many other reviewers have already mentioned
The headband was fractured after several months of gentle use
9 months into things the headband cracked like many other ones that have reported this issue
9 months into things the headband cracked like many other ones that have reported this issue
The headband has cheap padding as well and I question the durability
However, at night this thing turns into more of a party strobe, meaning don't go into a dark room or dark airplane with these things

Sony was kind enough to offer a free replacement which is the only reason i give it 3 stars but from what i understand they have not done anything to fix the cracking issue on the never models

I will report back on if they have the same cracking issue as the MDR1000X.
I enjoyed these headphones as soon as I got them.now, having owned them for less than a year, I've also run into the dreaded cracking issue.
Adjusting review to two stars after experiencing some of the headband cracking issue that a number of others have reported
The Bose auto power off if you forget to turn them off, while the Sony's seem to sit there burning battery power.
Also, it's irritating that the headphones automatically power off after a few minutes if they're not paired
The headphones definitely sound more anemic when powering them from your phone or headphone amp via the included 3.5mm cable
I was sceptical about the advertised 20 hour battery life and while I haven't used them for 20 hours yet without charging, power has never been an issue.
I can't seem to disable the power save feature and only find forums with frustrated people
