These sound great and have good noise canceling and cool controls
These headphones are comfortable, the sound quality and noise cancelling are excellent, and the controls are intuitive
The Sony MDX1000 takes the sound quality of the Sennheiser 2.0's, the noise canceling and comfort of the QC35's, the good looks and highly functional controls of the Parrot 3.0, and thankfully nothing from the PXC550's

B&O attempted the same capacitive touch technology on the H7 and failed miserably
This suck so much when it comes to sound wuality...get yourself some bose if thats what you care about
, in my opinion this is better, the Bose caused me headaches for some reason, I love all the noise cancellation levels this offers
The Sony sounds much better than the Bose QC35 and slightly better than the Sennheiser PXC-550, while cancelling out noise as well as the Bose and better than the Sennheiser
This became distracting, I don't remember my Bose having a white noise.
The Bose doesn't support AptX (if that is important to you)
That being said, many reviewers consider this headphone better in sound quality than the Bose quiet comfort 35.
Sound Quality (Bose Wins):I ran these up against my Bose Quiet Comfort 15 Noise Cancelling Headphones and there was simply no comparison, the Bose were superior in audio quality.
I listened to the Bose Quiet Comfort - thought they were great, but hated the price.
B&O attempted the same capacitive touch technology on the H7 and failed miserably
great sound great comfort but bad bad bad construction and sony won't even care so stick with the bose for better build quality and customer service !!
While Sony has great features, It came down to sound quality for me.
Noise cancelling features set this model apart from the competition
I don't need to repeat what everyone else says about sound quality, the noise cancellation and the additional features because it's been said
Not only did the fan noise disappear, I could barely hear the TV.The touch controls are intuitive, the touch to allow ambient sound in is a great feature.
Noise cancellation is good, the feature that allows you to cover the right side with your hand and hear everything not just lowers the music volume but also boosts ambient and voice sound
Sony has a pocket inside for the airplane adapter, then a mesh pocket on the outside for a cord (which I don't like as it tends to snag when you're stuffing the thing inside a bag - would have rather just had the pocket on the inside)
I wish it had dedicated buttons for volume up/down (I don't like swiping as sometimes I have accidentally cut the call)

My favorite aspect of these headphones is the great noise cancellation
The headphones sound quality is great and noise cancellation is amazing
The cheap plastic band near the hinge is completely cracked on both sides, and offers no structural support at all causing the headset to sit askew on my head making it uncomfortable and unbalance
The plastic cracked with little use like a cheap headphone.
However the plastic feels strong and sturdy, in fact, the whole headphone feels like it is of good quality
Compared to the cheap plastic feeling of both of the Bose products in the same price range, these were more in line with what you'd expect from $400
The plastic is crumbling and obviously just cheaply made
The bad I am not able to hear my young son if he wakes up with a bad dream
Had to have these replaced after 6 months of use because the hinge where the cups connect to the head band began to crack
But still works as I except.
The good I only hear what I am listening too
At the six month mark though, I'm running into a defect that many others are experiencing: The hinges where the earcups attach gradually crack and fall off
Also, Bose’s reluctance to publish meaningful specs is a big problem for me.
However, in an area with many people and thus wireless devices, cutting out become a very annoying problem
The leaks is my only problem so far, which is in a very bad level
Awesome battery life, no problems with the noise-canceling or anything
The sounds are very warm, the bass is deep and not too sharp, high hats don't hurt my ears (a huge problem I had with Dre Beats), and the noise cancelling
This product has a fatal design flaw that means your headband will crack all the way through just above the earcup rotation hinge

I found that -- PXC550 had an evenly beautiful sound but somewhat veiled/warm, the mighty bass drum blow in "Dies ire" did not shock as on the 1000X, and the harp arpeggio in the beginning of Nutcracker Waltz was hazy on the PXC550, but delicately clear on the 1000X.
Please check the other reviews and pictures, it’s a design flaw that Sony
Technology has reached a point where this design flaw is inexcusable
However, at night this thing turns into more of a party strobe, meaning don't go into a dark room or dark airplane with these things

I will report back on if they have the same cracking issue as the MDR1000X.
Sony was kind enough to offer a free replacement which is the only reason i give it 3 stars but from what i understand they have not done anything to fix the cracking issue on the never models
Aside from the headband cracking issue (that I have yet to experience), the Sony's look and feel very professional and sleek
Adjusting review to two stars after experiencing some of the headband cracking issue that a number of others have reported
I enjoyed these headphones as soon as I got them.now, having owned them for less than a year, I've also run into the dreaded cracking issue.
The headphones definitely sound more anemic when powering them from your phone or headphone amp via the included 3.5mm cable
The Bose auto power off if you forget to turn them off, while the Sony's seem to sit there burning battery power.
I can't seem to disable the power save feature and only find forums with frustrated people
Also, it's irritating that the headphones automatically power off after a few minutes if they're not paired
I was sceptical about the advertised 20 hour battery life and while I haven't used them for 20 hours yet without charging, power has never been an issue.
