Sony Premium Noise Cancelling, Bluetooth Headphone, Black (MDR1000X/B)

    • Pros over Bose QC35:Better SoundBetter Noise CancellationTouch Gestures (skip, pause, volume, listening to outside noise)Features
    • Bose QC35 have amazing noise cancelling abilities and are comfortable, but I just couldn't stand the sound quality as I'm used to headphones with a flat response
    • Sometimes the noise on the street car can get pretty
    • I chose the MDR 1000X because I needed headphones that provide solid sounds, comfort, and good noise cancellation for studying in open environments, such as library, cafe, etc
    • These are hands down the best wireless noise cancelling headphones currently available
    • Sony also seemed to have better passive noise isolation, which I tested out by wearing each set while turned off (or with NC deactivated, since the Sennheisers automatically turn on when you unfold them)
    • Noise cancelling works well
    • Obviously, everyone pointed to the Bose QC35’s as the best noise cancelling headphones on the market
    • Just what it says on the tin, this product offers superb noise cancellation and it looks clean and professional
    • BTW Gentleman who said he heard a hissing noise on his 15 hour flight, I tried to replicate that, it happens if NC isn't on, just Ambient Sound.
    • Pros:Effective noise canceling -Good enough to ride the subway in NYC.Good battery life
    • Pros:Effective noise canceling -Good enough to ride the subway in NYC.Good battery life
    • I like that the noise cancelling itself does not affect the sound a whole lot
    • To have the ability to walk around my 3000 sq ft house while listening to dead quiet noise, and music of my choice is awesome
    • Perfect noise cancelling however the sound is not as loud as I expected.
    • I've tried so many pairs and this is the best sounding and absolute best noise canceling headphones I've ever tried
    • Excellent noise cancelling feature
    • I was really excited based on the other reviews and figured if they were good headphones AND noise cancelling it would worth the money.
    • Overall Opinion:These are really good noise cancelling headphones, but that being said, the sound quality is just not there
    • After having the headphones for less than an hour I kept trying to figure out what the odd noise was that I was hearing.
    • The "voice mode" does not work well in the airplane with unbearable loud noise from the flight engine
    • The sound on these is clear, can get very loud and combined with the amazing noise canceling you really are in your own zone with these on
    • Good noise cancellation and pretty good ease of use with the swipe/tap controls on the right ear.
    • Good noise cancellation and pretty good ease of use with the swipe/tap controls on the right ear.
    • Much better noise cancelling, much better overall features
    • They have outstanding noise cancelling capabilities
    • I was initially hesitant to buy noise cancelling headphones because I used to think that active noise cancelling headphones sound bad and they are not effective at blocking out people's voices
    • Short story is that Sennheiser was better at wiping background noise away and getting closer to complete silence (though a very tiny bit of white noise is still left), but they weren't as great at passive noise
    • This is not a show-stopper, but the ambient sound functionality is seriously broken -- it makes loud static noise.
    • Amazing sound and excellent noise cancelling .
    • Excellent noise cancelling
    • The noise cancelling feature works great but the sound is somewhat muffled and the bass is not what it should be.
    • Changing tracks, pausing, and enabling/disabling noise cancelling works reliably, but moving your finger in a circle on the ear cup to control the volume is essentially impossible
    • Adaptive noise cancelling works really well and is extremely easy to set-
    • Apparently the Sennheiser Momentem 2.0 don't have the best noise cancelling and are a bit outdated at this point, so they got excluded
    • They have the best overall noise cancelling, comfort, and sound quality
    • Noise cancellation - I was looking for the best noise cancellation headphones and these Sonys have less 'hiss' when the NC is enabled compared to Bose
    • Great bluetooth noise cancelling headphones overall
    • I'm about 20-30 steps from the bathroom and can leave my laptop/phone on my desk and keep listening to music there.- Great noise cancellation; day and night difference, even just at home or in the
    • but still, if for you the noise is an issue then go for the Sennheiser momentum 2 noise cancelling over ear headphones
    • Honestly, it's best that you can still hear these a little bit because it would be dangerous to be completely oblivious to loud noises around you
    • Pros:- noise canceling: the best I've seen, blocked out even the loudest noises, and blocks out voices really well.- battery life: I use these wirelessly for most of my 40 hour work week, and charge them maybe once or twice a week (if even that).- bluetooth: the audio quality doesn't seem diminished at all over bluetooth, and how far you can walk around and still get signal with these is obscene.- touch controls: kinda cool you can use the right earphone to move next/back in music, change the volume, or pause noise cancelling.- passive use: if the battery dies, just connect an AUX cable and you can still use these as passive headphones.- passive noise cancelling
    • A fantastic wireless headphone with a ton of features and nearly perfect noise cancelling (the ability to temporarily disable cancelling by cupping your hand over the earcup so you can hear someone talking to you is extremely clever)
    • If you are a normal person though, the long batter life on these things, coupled with the amazing noise canceling and amazing audio quality makes them an easy purchase.
    • Great headphones with excellent noise cancelling
    • I finally bit the bullet and bought some expensive, noise cancelling headphones
    • The actually cancel out noise, and very effectively
    • , that combines both awesome audio quality and noise cancelling, I am over all satisfied.
    • I wanted two sets of decent noise cancelling headphones; one for me and one for my wife for an upcoming trip
    • Great noise cancellation
    • the Best head noise cancel head
    • No, they are not the perfect noise-cancelling headphones, but this is because they are dynamic
    • Superior noise cancellation that can be adjusted for the environment, and outstanding sound reproduction.
    • Great noise canceling but annoying feature of turning off after 5 minutes if no input
    • These are my favorite noise cancelling headphones on the market as of November 2, 2016 BY FAR
    • So… why did I end up with the Sennheisers and not those amazing noise cancelling masterpieces
    • They are not comfortable; the ear muffs are too small with very little padding and there is bad noise bleed
    • The noise cancelling works better than anything I've ever had
    • The Noise Cancel works well for not to noisy background - crying baby in the background will still be heard, unless the music is turned way up - overall I like the quality, ease of use, comfort around the ears, and most everything else!
    • Highlights of the Sony: Isolating and immersive, great noise cancelling (definitely a cut above most others), ability to plug into any headphone jack OR use bluetooth to broadcast music wirelessly (bluetooth pairing worked well with my iPhone), can listen to music even if the ~20 hour batteries have run out
    • The best noise cancelling headphones
    • Let me be very clear: these are great headphones, with great noise cancelling.
    • I can say this though, the noise cancelling does work great, slightly better than the Bose and that was quite the surprise.
    • Use the adaptive noise cancelling, after a hair cut or with or without glasses or what have you, you just press the button it will do a quick system test and customize the NC to fit the current environment.
    • Here's the good - these headphones have excellent noise cancelling and an ideal blend of sound
    • Noise cancelling headphones monitor the outside sound and adjust based on what they pick up, because of this, if you are sitting below an air vent on a plane or are in front of a fan with air blowing on you, it can really mess up how they are supposed to work.
    • this product is good, the active noise is working good but not important if you are buying this for the noise
    • With a wide sound stage that you can immerse yourself in with the great noise cacelation
    • The noise cancelling feature works great
    • My favorite aspect of these headphones is the great noise cancellation
    • Noise cancelling worked well on my recent flight as well.
    • Noise cancelling worked well on my recent flight as well.
    • Walking on the street with it I can still hear car running around and some noise, much weaker though.
    • Truly awesome noise cancellation.
    • Good noise canceling and best sound qulity amoung all the active noise canceling headphones.
    • The Sony MDX1000 takes the sound quality of the Sennheiser 2.0's, the noise canceling and comfort of the QC35's, the good looks and highly functional controls of the Parrot 3.0, and thankfully nothing from the PXC550's
    • Pros)Excellent noise cancellingIt is very comfortable, make sure you position is nicely around your ears
    • IMO.Overall if you want amazing noise canceling headphones and you don't listen to bass heavy music or don't mind having an average bass level then these are the headphones for you
    • They look and feel great, and the noise canceling feature works very well
    • Bose QC35 have amazing noise cancelling abilities and are comfortable, but I just couldn't stand the sound quality as I'm used to headphones with a flat response
    • Changing tracks, pausing, and enabling/disabling noise cancelling works reliably, but moving your finger in a circle on the ear cup to control the volume is essentially impossible
    • Great noise cancelling headphones, watched several YouTube videos about various headphones
    • Can't wait to take them the next time I fly as I hate flying and hate the airplane noise.
    • I own a pair of Bose Quiet Comfort 15 Noise Canceling Headphones that have been wonderful traveling companions over the years and one of the highest rated noise canceling headphones around, and so I jumped at the chance to see these new Noise Canceling headphones by Sony to see if they'd be better than my Bose.
    • I just received mine yesterday and absolutely love how well the noise cancelling works
    • We can get his attention and he holds his hand on the right earpiece to disable the noise-
    • I will say that overall, Bose had slightly better noise cancelling and significantly worse sound quality than both the Sennheiser and Sony
    • Excellent noise cancelling.
    • I thought my other headphones provided good noise cancelling.
    • I have wanted some nice noise cancelling headphones for a while
    • Also if the voice prompts were a little faster, the headphones wouldn't have to cut off the music for a full second (or a second and a half) to prompt me about stuff like when I disable noise cancelling
    • I don't like the low volume white noise I was getting on the plane.
    • the Bose was more comfortable and had a great noise cancelation, however the design was uglier and the sound wasn't crisp and nice
    • * Exceptional sound quality* Good active noise isolation (comparable to Bose, I had Bose QuiteComfort 15
    • To have the ability to walk around my 3000 sq ft house while listening to dead quiet noise, and music of my choice is awesome
    • Excellent built, perfect customizable noise cancellation (with a NC on/off button), advanced features ( like Personal NC Optimizer, gesture audio control, support the aptX and LDAC codecs for high-resolution Bluetooth audio) and perfect sound (also have a 3.5mm headphone jack)
    • Really nice and effective noise blocking!!
    • I know most believe the Bose to have better noise cancellation and at first I was inclined to agree, but after submersing myself in a degree of different environments I found they each seem to have strength over the other with certain tones
    • Also, while these work great in a plane, the take off noise is too much for these and the noise canceling is horrible
    • Sony also seemed to have better passive noise isolation, which I tested out by wearing each set while turned off (or with NC deactivated, since the Sennheisers automatically turn on when you unfold them)
    • Noise Cancelling:Phenomenal noise cancelling
    • These are excellent noise cancelling headphones - the best I've owned in terms of noise cancelling
    • They are good noise canceling headphones, with good features, but almost any other review will tell you that
    • I can also let all outside noise in and still enjoy my media content
    • These sound great and have good noise canceling and cool controls
    • This has better noise cancelling compared to my old Bose QuietComfort headphones
    • When not drowning out the sounds of the outside world, the ambient sound mode button toggles between being able to hear all of the surrounding environment, or being able to hear only voice frequencies of the surrounding environment; wind noise, appropriaately enough, is cancelled in either of the two modes
    • The Sony's do have better noise cancelling, but it's not so much better that I'm going to suffer in the comfort area for it.
    • Not great , while making phones calls ,not good with base, only good just noise cancellation
    • Drowned out other voices and the loud airplane noise
    • It kills the noise from people talking, air conditioning unit, fans and even Alarms when rockets hit, Im not joking it canceled out IDF Alarms its pretty dam good
    • Noise-canceling works GREAT, better than the Bose, and is not as affected by an air vent blowing on you as much as the Bose are, so that’s a huge Sony win.
    • that combines both awesome audio quality and noise cancelling
    • Great sound, good enough noise canceling.
    • Awesome noise cancelling headphones
    • You will still be able to hear sharp sounds like loud noises or irregular voice patterns, but they will be severely muffled
    • However, I've only had mine for a little less than 3 weeks, now, and the right earphone has started making a quiet but definitely noticeable and persistent crackling noise
    • They have excellent noise canceling and the listening quality is outstanding
    • Great sounding headphones with superb noise canceling , a sturdy case and great battery life
    • * Exceptional sound quality* Good active noise isolation (comparable to Bose, I had Bose QuiteComfort 15
    • Bar none the best noise cancelling headphones on the market.
    • The noise from trucks and wind make it impossible to listen to the radio but the 1000x blocks out a lot of that sound and let me hear NPR or music
    • Best noise cancelling headphones right now
    • Overall, these headphones are comfortable, have clear and strong sound, and do exactly what they are supposed to do - getting rid of that constant, mind-numbing noise that is our lives when we board a commercial airline.
    • The Bose are simply fantastic if you want mind blowing noise cancellation and great sounding music.
    • Good noise cancelling
    • The noise cancelling feature works about as well, and music quality didn't seem to be diminished at all compared to non-noise cancelling headphones
    • Don't want Bose only because of air pressure-like-effect, lack of the way to turn off noise cancelation and lack of AptXPS
    • It is comfortable to wear and fits well over the ear, providing great passive noise cancellation when the active nc is not turned on
    • These are my favorite noise cancelling headphones on the market as of November 2, 2016 BY FAR
    • Over the past several years I've had different experiences with headphones advertised as "noise cancelling," making me skeptical of Sony's claim that these are 100% ambient noise-free.
    • Fantastic sound and noise canceling features
    • After significant research and testing my favorites, I opted to purchase the Sony MDR 1000x for the advanced features, versatile noise cancellation capabilities and overall look and feel
    • Normally when I would think of a headphone with the best noise cancellation, I would go to Bose, but the Sony's surprisingly surpassed Bose in that category with these headphones, something I did not expect
    • It is comfortable to wear and fits well over the ear, providing great passive noise cancellation when the active nc is not turned on
    • Comfortable with amazing noise cancellation.
    • Good for use at home, tried them in short flight once, I have to say the noise cancelling ability is not as good as Bose QC series (i have a QC25 and QC20 which is the best noise cancelling in flight headphone in my opinion).
    • They sound good and the noise cancelling works well, but the quality of build is terrible
    • She doesn't care about sound quality, but appreciates the good battery life, excellent noise cancellation, and phone/mic ability.
    • More features, better noise canceling, better sound.
    • All the pro reviews seem to agree that the Bose pairs have slightly better noise canceling while the Sony pairs have slightly better sound quality
    • With intuitive touch control and extremely effective noise canceling, they are the best I have seen so far
    • The noise cancelling feature works great
    • These provided a nice noise cancellation though
    • Really nice noise
    • * Really great noise canceling, only slightly bested by the QC35
    • nice noise cancelling headphone
    • Pros:-Awesome noise cancelling-Adaptive noise cancelling works really well and is extremely easy to set-up, you basically hold a button for some seconds
    • Pros:-Awesome noise cancelling-Adaptive noise cancelling works really well and is extremely easy to set-up, you basically hold a button for some seconds
    • My priorities for headphones in this class are: excellent sound, great noise cancellation, long battery life and a good microphone
    • Noise consolation: works amazing
    • range- battery life is decent- noise cancellation is
    • The Sony MDX1000 takes the sound quality of the Sennheiser 2.0's, the noise canceling and comfort of the QC35's, the good looks and highly functional controls of the Parrot 3.0, and thankfully nothing from the PXC550's
    • I did expect a somewhat greater ambient noise
    • Noise cancelling (Sony Wins):Sony say's there’s a "noise canceling optimizer”,
    • Not great , while making phones calls ,not good with base, only good just noise cancellation
    • Sony 1000X is a great noise-cancellation headphone with decent sound
    • While they may help with keeping a better seal around your ears and providing better noise cancellation, they may get uncomfortable after wearing for long periods of time
    • Totally worth the moneyThe sound quality is greatThe noise cancelling works perfectly, was walking dowb the street and put them off for a second, discovered that someone was drilling couple of meters from me
    • B&O attempted the same capacitive touch technology on the H7 and failed miserably
    • The bad I am not able to hear my young son if he wakes up with a bad dream
    • The good I only hear what I am listening too
    • But still works as I except.
