and I must say.....this receiver has made a HUGE difference in the sound output of my Sharp Aquos TV.

I wanted ARC because I plan to move the home theater receiver and BD player to a wall unit in a different part of the living room from the Smart TV & cable box, and I didn't wish to run a 25 foot optical cable in addition to a 25 foot HDMI cable between the TV and the receiver to get surround sound from cable and the smart TV apps

Easy to install, integrates flawlessly with HDMI equipment (including my ARC based Samsung smart TV and Samsung BluRay player).

TV never sounded so good in our house/living room!

It seems that the Sony receiver and the New Samsung TV that I have do not work together.

UPDATE 9-17The wife complained of recent poor TV sound.

My Sony smart TV recognizes the receiver being hooked up to it, which means I can control the volume with the TV remote so it eliminates the need for the receiver remote beyond the initial setup, which is nice.

My intention was to diagnose if the problem with ARC was the TV, the HDMI cable (which was supposed to be ARC-compatible) or the receiver

Do not buy this product or research to see if it works with your model TV before you do.

It works seamlessly with the new smart TV.

I love this receiver, I don't watch TV without it

It worked fine yesterday, today I turned the tv on and "no hdmi connection"

Excellent for the price use only for surround sound with my Sony TV

You had to hunt several clicks into the innards of the settings and then perform two steps to free your TV
