    Sony UBP-X700 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray Player

    • Wow, this made me 1080 HD TV look like an ultra-HD (or 4K HD) TV
    • Really that would be the only reason to fork out $175 for the player if you already have a smart 4K UHD TV.
    • If you're not picky, getting the "smart tv" features within the disc player is a nice good idea
    • Easy interface to TV thru Onkyo receiver.
    • The Sony X700 is the cheapest, quality player that supported every format my TV was capable of displaying
    • But if you have a smart TV, well... you don't really need the extra features.
    • Just plugged it in and it did all that smart tv configuration on my Samsung TV
    • Many add in a media player that, in effect, turns a standard HDTV into a "smart TV
    • I don't like depending on a smart TV for those, prefer to be a stick or player like this
    • Controls are simple and if your smart tv is up to the task, and whose isn’t
    • Given that most movie and TV content currently available is not 4K, the UBP-X700's upscaling capabilities are an important feature
    • My TV is a 2018 smart tv, so don't need the other things.
    • Quality of picture is very good, long as you have a good tv to go with it.
    • but with this one that makes my TV into a smart TV as well, my Amazon Prime works with apt that comes with the player
    • Amazon does not accept returns (even for defective units) after a measly month and Sony is not interested, denying responsibility and blaming my TV, AV receiver and everything else not made by them
    • The remote is very nice and works my tv too!
    • And, if I decide to join this century and get a better TV, I expect that this player will bring out the best in that as well
    • There is an app called Video & TV SideView that works with this player
    • I was eventually able to get it working by adding the Sony's IP address to the Plex server, under Settings/Network/Advanced/"List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth".So, bottom line, this is a great disc player with rather basic streaming video "smart tv" features
    • n’t had any issues
    • n’t available and maybe 5 old ones that I’ll spend the 10 dollars
