no problems getting three 1920x1080 displays off an i5-4200U with Mini DisplayPort

It will mirror your display on a Mac, so if you need that, this will work for that.

Ever since I got the correct adapters my 1080p displays have always worked without any issues

I am thinking that either my displays are not supported by the standard, or this hub/ my displayport adapters do not transfer enough information back to the graphics controller to produce the correct display settings and refresh rate.
