You can use the magnet to test whether cookware you own is compatible by seeing if it sticks to the bottom of your cookware, or if it turns out you don't have compatible cookware, you can take the magnet to a store like I did, to find cookware with bottoms that the magnet would stick to

The only catch is that you must use suitable cookware in which the bottom surface is made of a magnetic induction material

Be sure to have induction compatible cookware to use with this cooktop.

It also came with a magnetic sheet to verify induction friendly cookware and a cleaning cloth

You will need induction compatible cookware, which is any cookware with a bottom made out of a magnetic metal material

This ONLY works with steel or iron cookware

Also, you must use the compatible cookware

But at the low end it's 100-W or 200-W: not fine enough
