• Reviews around level (3.34 of 5)

Super Mario Maker - Nintendo Wii U

    • The most popular above all are the automatic levels which, if the name didn't make it clear, are levels that play themselves.
    • As a result, once you've gone through the top players' puzzle levels or the rare, well thought out level, there isn't much left
    • Is the level creator easy to use
    • Unless you're a famous Youtuber or speed runner, super hard levels will probably be mostly unplayed without advertising it on message boards and forums
    • If you take the time, and think and not just place crap everywhere and randomly, but plot out how you want a level to play out, you will then have a good or even great level
    • If you've ever been turned off by more complex level creation tools that can seem daunting if you don't want to pour hours into learning them (LittleBigPlanet comes to mind), then you owe it to yourself to give this a try
    • Making levels is almost as fun as playing them
    • Either the levels are massively easy or frustratingly hard
    • Though I admit you may have to find those creative levels on the web
    • You can make creative levels that have never been built before, or you can play some of the most creative levels ever seen
    • I found myself wanting to do MORE levels after I've unleashed a new creation
    • If your levels are not popular enough after 2 weeks they will be deleted and you will be unable to upload them ever again
    • You can favorite levels, comment on them, and even leave Miiverse notes that end up getting extremely obnoxious on the popular levels but are too funny for me to turn off
    • I end up using Youtube and other online communities to find good levels and always follow makers whose levels I enjoy
    • He has designed some pretty impressive levels and is very proud of his work.
    • Sure, there are some glaring level types that are missing, like desert or ice levels, but I am sure some day they will release additional by way of
    • (That's my favorite level I've made so far)
    • You can also download or play other player's games online (it upload your levels for people to play), which I love
    • I love getting the chance to experience it directly through player-made levels and contributing some of my own
    • Even sub-areas and selectable sound/visual effects would be available for you to toy with the level atmosphere! With such a robust level creator and editor, I can't believe I'm about to say it, but I had so much fun creating levels in Super Mario Maker
    • The game has several nice level creations online, but you will find them after seeping through all the trash available, so, you may play something good or interesting after 10 crapfests
    • The best Mario levels you will play😀
    • I find myself creating levels for them to try to beat, and loving all the features that keep unlocking
    • Don't worry, every level can be beated, in order to upload a level you have to finish it yourself
    • However there are some limitations such as no true vertical levels.
    • While it is a good idea in theory, I think these levels are only unpopular because the people who would like them simply aren’t finding them
    • Online levelsWith well over 1 MILLION levels uploaded within the first week of release there's a lot to love in Super Mario Maker -- even if you don't much care for creating levels yourself
    • 100 Challenge Mode makes you play some of the worst levels ever designed by anyone, including endless "auto" levels (i.e., levels where you literally do nothing and the level design takes you to the end - really boring
    • We like that we can build challenging levels, creates easier levels for our son or play other people's levels
    • My husband is hooked on this game, we have so much fun creating levels for each other
    • I can't imagine anyone who wouldn't find creating levels incredibly satisfying
    • I guess that's something to keep in mind, because when people run across your level in the 100 Mario Challenge, they can swipe to skip it, so if your level is too frustrating you probably won't have a lot of people actually trying to play it which can be disappointing
    • There are huge elements of some Mario games missing here, as far as level types, enemies, and powerups
    • It really takes skill, creativity, and ingenuity to create good Mario levels, but it's also accessible--it just requires you to put the time in to become a good builder
    • This is somewhere between a 3.5 and 4.5 star game because there is little guidance provided on how to build effective levels
    • There are some wonderful creative levels
    • weeks...of their lives perfecting their levels and playing the levels of others.
    • Even if you never make a single course, there are many Mario games worth of excellent levels from Nintendo, famous designers, and ordinary people just like you
    • That's not to say you won't run into ridiculously hard levels.
    • It's hard to make good levels - and many of the ones you'll play from others are derivative
    • because there's no list of what you've played, you can't follow someone whose level you loved
    • 10 Mario ChallengeThis is basically puts you against 8 stages that you have to get through in 10 lives from levels made by the team as well as some unique fun levels that were created by the community
    • Mario Lakitu's cloud• 100 Challenge Mode lets you play random levels others have made• Level-makers create some tricky and very creative levels we'd never see in the official game...and you can be one of
    • because too many designers make hard, long levels with no checkpoints (granted, it was a recent update that added the checkpoint at all - talk about necessary)...or at least advertised so makers know it's been added• Pipes can only be directed to a single new arena, which forces you to use that finite, rectangular space only and forces all pipes to go to the same style of place (underwater, for example)• You can't change the bottom elements of the template.
    • The level-maker is perfectly implemented, and the level of thought and detail put into this game is astonishing.
    • My levels aren't the most impressive yet but experiencing the ones created by the community allows me to better my own.
    • It's also a good way to challenge yourself and learn how to make decent levels with such content handed out so far
    • But if you are into just playing levels you might end downloading courses that 80% of the time aren't even fun to play, and I'm not even mentioning the "hardest level I could make" kind of levels those might just be annoying and not fun
    • The creating your own level is the ultimate fun
    • Also enjoyed creating many hard levels to send to my friends and watch them try their hardest to beat them!
    • You can create typical ground levels, underground levels, underwater levels, castle levels and airship levels.
    • My boy will spend hours perfecting his levels.
    • While you're able to clear levels as you would in many other Super Mario games, the level editing and level sharing brings a whole new degree of dynamism to partaking in the series
    • But when I designed a level that was tuned to their abilities and they were able to complete the course, that made the game worth it to me and to them because we all can enjoy Mario at our own level(no pun intended). The goal of the game is not to create the most impossible level you can think of(which is
    • I gave them some encouragement that a good level is one that challenges the player but the designer always wants the player to win
    • The only reason I can't give it a 5 Star rating is because that the amount of fun you get is proportional to the intentions you have, if you're into creating levels and learning about level desing your good to go
    • Great game for the family, sure many online levels are no good, but liberal use of the skip button makes this problem go away.
    • And like so many children, I one day dreamed of creating my own levels.
    • The platforming feels right, "unlimited" levels, the graphics are just like I remember them (except in HD), and the maker mode is really intuitive to use.
    • With an intuitive level designer and tools, gamers can create a near infinite assortment of levels for other gamers to tackle
    • There are so many amazing levels and the experience can be as everlasting as you want it to be.
    • The 10 Mario Challenge gives you tons of creative levels just to play through and the 1000 Mario Challenge will pull levels from online users to give you endless for years to
    • You have 100 lives to accomplish this (as some people's levels are REALLY hard), but the reality, I didn't lose much
    • After the newer updates it is much easier to find good levels
    • I think most people enjoy a level that gives them a bit of a challenge but is not inundated with enemies or obstacles
    • Sound levels are little difficult this is a great game for people who get bored with the original super Mario!
    • If you make a great level, it probably won't get much attention unless it's easy
    • There are online levels that are easy enough for the eight year old boy, but there are a lot of crazy, crazy levels too
    • He also loves playing the other user created levels and is overjoyed when levels he's made receive comments from his peers.
    • Let’s be honest, when everyone and their brother is designing levels, you are bound to have some really, really bad levels
    • You have 100 lives to accomplish this (as some people's levels are REALLY hard), but the reality, I didn't lose much
    • Play a near-limitless number of intensely creative Super Mario levels from players around the world
    • So far, I've only found one while I was playing with him, but he was too busy trying to clear the level to notice.
    • The negatives of this so far are that the levels you'll find on 100 Mario Challenge are overall pretty poor
    • I love the throwback levels and the fact that he's designing levels, not just mindlessly playing the same game over and over.
    • The rating system works well to give you good feedback on where to improve your levels, and what people like about them
    • Both my son and I like creating levels and playing other people's levels
    • I feel challenged to make a cool game level to share with the world
    • Your mom could be making an awesome Mario level in ten minutes and uploading it the world before she figures out how to set up her email on an iPhone
    • Also enjoyed creating many hard levels to send to my friends and watch them try their hardest to beat them!
    • If you like designing difficult levels for friends pick this title up
    • These and the single player mode, in which shortand easy levels are randomly configured in a set of 8, won't replace a "real" Mario experience but the basic game has a future
    • I was expecting that the mario maker game would be endless, but really most of the levels fall into three basic categories: the it plays itself, the crazy maddening dificult level, and a bunch of people's first level, mostly rushed and subpar
    • Limited level templates.
    • Use your creativity and you'll have some of the most imaginative levels you've ever seen.
    • They love the game and even weeks after receiving it are still creating levels, uploading levels, and learning how to create more creative levels
    • There really is an ample level of customization here allowing many things that can be done in certain styles that no previous Mario game did, such as customize what comes out of pipes, bill blasters, what Lakitu throws, one-way walls, stacking enemies on top of each other, putting enemies in clown cars, etc
    • It doesn't even matter if you don't want to make levels, there is a nearly infinite amount of user-created levels you can play, and Nintendo has been doing a decent job keeping the bad levels out of the 100 mario challenges
    • Super Mario Maker gives gamers the tools to devise some truly creative levels that can make the Super Mario Bros - The Lost Levels seem tame
    • I have to say, while I liked playing the levels in that game, I found the creation aspect to be clunky and did not even bother with it
    • You can follow users whose levels you really enjoyed, and try the levels they starred and enjoyed.
    • The user made levels are mostly unpleasant to play
    • The real challenge is creating complete cohesive levels to challenge yourself and others online to complete
    • It is easy to sabotage levels by putting too many fire flowers of Koopas in a row and not being able to get past them.
    • The Hard levels are statistically ones where - I don't know the real numbers here - but say they only get cleared at most 1 in every 20-30 tries or something
    • In my opinion, I had more fun making my own levels than I did playing those of others online
    • The levels that Nintendo has added to the game feel more like a demo of what you can do in the Course Maker rather than a traditional, enjoyable Mario game level
    • If you love classic Mario and have found yourself saying " I can make a better level! " then this is the game for you.
    • Sure, there are some glaring level types that are missing, like desert or ice levels, but I am sure some day they will release additional by way of
    • There are extremely difficult levels and also extremely easy levels, you can filter the search.5
    • -2ACCPS: If you worry about encountering one too many stupidly hard levels, do yourself a favor and play the 100 Mario Challenge on NORMAL difficulty
    • You Can make some very evil levels
    • And I did have fun with the concept - creating levels and playing cool levels designed by others around the world
    • I am surprised by how long it seems to take to make a level and how quickly the level is then mastered, but they seem to enjoy it and it keeps them all busy.
    • The possibilities are endless, and you are rewarded for playing the game with more level creation tools that can enhance your "maker" abilities
    • My most popular level had a few simple jumps over spikes, one flying turtle, and a bullet bill pyramid that had a star power option to get through it easily and reach the goal post
    • Unless you're a famous Youtuber or speed runner, super hard levels will probably be mostly unplayed without advertising it on message boards and forums
    • Updates to the game have included a checkpoint, ability to see record times on who cleared your levels, new 8 bit costumes etc
    • If you're making an extremely hard level it might take you a long time before you can upload it
    • Mario Brothers, making your own game levels (Minecraft, Legos) or ripping your hair out at hundreds and hundres of bizarre (read: bad) level design by your fellow gamers.
    • Which means many people are missing out on the genius of my Star Wars inspired Death Star level
    • Would have been a fun game if you could play difficult levels and take turns with 2 different controllers.
    • I think the game is good, but not great after you get disappointed by the hours spent trying to find good levels to play, your creations get deleted before they have any good chance to be properly played, and may reduce immediate replay value due to frustration
    • i Bought this game for my kids for xmas and found that making the levels is pretty easy to make and you can download it to the wii and play it online and making the challenges can be tough to beat the level
    • The system does very well to filter out you finding any terrible nearly unplayable levels and does a pretty good job of presenting great experiences
    • Making levels is great fun as well.
    • Making levels is great fun as well.
    • It can lose its luster quickly for general players though because while there are many many creative levels out there, its just not the same as a real mario game, AND there is only a limited number of assets to use
    • We all loved creating crazy levels!
    • But they caught on quickly and love creating their own levels and seeing others play their levels.
    • Although he can only play on the weekends, he has built some amazing and hard levels
    • I have about this game, it's that the sheer amount of content can be overwhelming, and there are some great levels out there that I may never discover
    • There is nothing better then sitting back watching my girls create then play their own levels they love it
    • They are categorized by difficulty, so if you're a newcomer to the Mario franchise, you can take on the easy levels and work your way up
    • I've watched him (a six year old) advance from being unable to play a single level to being able to clear hard levels.
    • If a created level is too hard, you can skip it
    • My favorite levels (insert sarcasm) are the ones appropriately titled "Don't Touch Anything" and literally just has Mario moving about the course by way of cleverly placed level mechanics
    • Check out some of my coolest levels
    • Making your levels is fun, I enjoy uploading levels and seeing who plays them and who can beat them
    • The game itself is fun as you would expect, but there there is really no 'reason' to play the community made stuff unless you like uber hard stuff or auto-complete levels.
    • This wouldn't be the game that it is without the Game Pad, as it provides a tactile experience and is what makes level building so much fun and so accessible
    • " attempts out there, there are already some truly amazing levels created in only the last few days
    • I am sometimes impressed with how creative certain levels are and how much work have been put into them
    • I've been making pretty complex levels and trying to beat my own levels is a lot of fun
    • Being able to play other people's (often times extremely crazy) levels is really fun and you end up spending more time than you should
    • Making levels is incredibly easy
    • If you don't like a level and want to leave a comment, the level actually gets a star (usually, stars are used by players to reward levels that they think are good) which is counter intuitive
    • It's easy to get into the very best levels while skipping the not-so-good ones
    • They're quite prominent in the community (as well as levels that either play themselves or where you merely need to keep running to the right or something like that).
    • These levels are made by Nintendo and most of them begin as pretty easy levels.
    • I love all Mario games though and my family has fun creating levels for each other and trying them out!
    • You'll still run across some bad levels in Normal but they are at least playable for the most part
    • If you don't like a level and want to leave a comment, the level actually gets a star (usually, stars are used by players to reward levels that they think are good) which is counter intuitive
    • Also, all enemies, objects, and level styles are interchangeable in any game style, which in turn creates a lot of new level styles and enemies for each game style
    • Being able to play other people's (often times extremely crazy) levels is really fun and you end up spending more time than you should
    • My sons really like making their own levels and playing levels made by other people
    • the two took many turns over the holiday making "unbeatable" levels for each other
    • Whats not to love, unlimited mario levels covering mario 1, 3, world, and U... over a million levels
    • (e.g., power-ups, level templates like deserts and beaches, enemies, and boss fights) and fewer limitations (e.g., mystery mushroom available to all styles, level-end style options, and pipe-destination variation
    • This game is boring and will only be interesting for those people who like design levels for Mario
    • The player made level are all trash
    • There are a lot of amazing levels that others have made
    • this game is not for: Hardcore Super Mario Bros/Land fans who are interested in completing legitimately well-designed platform levels
    • (some are bad, some are good but you can skip a level if you don't like it).
    • I've watched him (a six year old) advance from being unable to play a single level to being able to clear hard levels.
    • Even if you don't have a creative bone in your body, they made it so easy to create whatever you want that anybody can quickly put together a great level
    • we've already had a blast creating ridiculously complicated, difficult, or silly levels
    • * Levels have a pretty short height limit (can't make levels with major drops or focused on climbing
    • The levels are impossible
    • No checkpoints (this would be soooooo nice for making hard levels more easy to complete and more enjoyable
    • Some are terribly designed, but the creative levels are super unique and a blast to play through
    • They can also leave constructive feedback on their favorite parts of your level and give helpful tips on how to improve your levels
    • There are extremely difficult levels and also extremely easy levels, you can filter the search.5
    • Being able to make your own levels is truly satisfying
    • You can pick from top rated levels, play Nintendo curated level sets in the traditional "get to the castle and save the princess" style set, type in level codes you found online, play levels similar to those you enjoyed, and pick trending levels among other ways.
    • They like building a level and then challenging me to complete it
    • How could you not love a game where you can build the perfect 2d sidescrolling level
    • Built-in levelsThe 10 Mario challenge allows you to play through some excellent levels built by Nintendo themselves(over 80)
