I loved beating the bad guys!

There is no violence beyond stomping on the bad guys heads.

This is a new start for the Mario franchise being that Bowser or any of the other bad guys we were used to are not in this game

Hover in the air, ride a Yoshi, and fight off bad guys.

Mario's gameplay used to revolve around "Get the Fireball Power, Kill the Bad Guy, Invade the Castle, Save the Princess, etc..."

Mario uses his water backpack for shooting the bad guys, flying for a short distance, rocketing up into the sky or running really fast.

even the bad guys are liquid-shaped gooey messes which also show-off the Gamecube's graphics.

Also, with one of the baddies in this game being a sort of toxic goop, it's much harder to deal with than a straightforward guy like (say) Bowser.

Instead of Bowser appearing as the bad guy more than once(he is in this game but at the very end) you are sent to chase Shadow Mario which is lots of fun

They go to court and the judge tells Mario that he can't go back home until he cleans u-p the island.
