This is definitely not as good as N95 mask I have used in the past.

I am an essential worker and had been using a genuine N95 that a customer gave me in May that was disintegrating held together with safety pins

With regard to effectiveness, the KN95 may not be as good as the N95 masks, but they're almost certainly better than the bandanas, cloth masks, and surgical/procedure masks everyone wears, since they're actually meant to protect the wearer from infection.
