Setup is very straightforward, and just involves plug & play--what could be easier?

The quality of the hardware is great, installing DSM 6.2 beta meant I got BTRFS support, and the setup was relatively painless (although the wizard makes it hard to do custom installations from the start)

Synology makes the setup easy and painless

After an easy setup and install I found the device lost 50% of it's transfer speed going from 72MB/s to 32-35 MB/s (SMB2) after a wek of use.

This was a good lesson as to why to have offsite backup, but also made me realise I needed a more robust RAID setup at home
