The range is limited to basically the same room.

As others have mentioned, I wanted to love this router too but can't due to its relatively poor range, reliability, and signal strength compared to the Apple Airport Timecapsule I intended to replace; verified with the Wi-Fi Explorer app from the app store.

I subtracted a star because the 5Ghz range isn't so great.

As reported by CNET the wireless range is not outstanding.

After a day of making all the config changes and chasing down the issues, I have purchased an Asus RT-AC68U. Not the latest router but great range and all the feature actually work!

The VPN server is broke as of the latest software release

I really wanted to keep it and turned off the wireless to use it as a router on another segment but the switch performance wasn't as good as or better than what I already

Then the 2.4G instability issues started this summer.
