Teenage Engineering 002.AS.001 OP-1 Mini Synthesizer Pack
Color:Grey
Op-1 comes loaded with great kits, but if you feel that you want more just press the mic key to sample anything. And if that's not enough you just connect your OP-1 to your computer and drag and drop any .aif file straight to the OP-1.

The synth has multiple engines and requires you to work a bit harder to create sounds you like vs more traditional synths that have hundreds or sometimes thousands of sound preloaded with 10-20% sounding good right away
The sounds and tracks you create will not sound good, I can guarantee that
If this sounds like two alternative options, available to you depending on your creative needs at the time, this little wonder is for you
Getting the hang of the menus may take a few tries, but you will always be making fun creative sounds the whole time
dosen't mean it isn't capable of creating some really insane and ethereal sounds
I just had to get over the fact that this is quite the opposite of an infinitely tweak-able, and engineering friendly device
I will say that it is an extremely well built device, and the quality is the only justification for such a price.
That's not to say it's perfect, however, and the compromises inherent in the compact device and screen are occasionally very evident, with many basic functions hidden behind a modifier key
I've never looked forward to my lunch break as much as I
It's the perfect device for quickly sketching out musical ideas when inspiration strikes or for spending an evening crafting that idea into a full-fledged track
I travel quite a bit for work and collaborate with friends on music projects from afar, and it has never been easier or more fun.
I love that so many new synth makers like Teenage Engineering and Critter & Guitari - and some of the older synth companies too - are making instruments that are unusual, flexible, fun to play, and invite creativity
Some of the best fun I've ever had in my life with this little thing.

It is very well built, again heavy and dense giving the feeling of excellent build quality
The build feels nice, heavy for its size but feels durable
Here are some "hidden" features that allow you to keep as much production / mixing on the OP1 as possible without "giving up" and finishing the tracks on a DAW:- You can use the built-in gyroscope to "wobble" the pitch of the note (similar to a Roli seaboard)- because "wobbling" the note causes the whole OP1 unit to physically

L, and another tape track all the way R, by recording identical parts into each and altering the relative volumes between L and R, you can place an instrument anywhere you like within the stereo field
The price seems steep, but its really 3 or 4 instruments in one tiny, tough package - I.e. a Swiss Army knife
i do mean only is that you can not save your instruments and with nearly infinite possibilities, its not easy to recreate the heavily edited instruments that you spent 20 minutes on in the first place
It's honestly one of the best (some would say the best) and most unique electronic instruments out there
