Tek Pal - Large Button TV Remote Control

    • On & Off plus volume and mute, however the channel changing does not work.
    • The ablility to limit channels is not apparent in the instructions, but a call to the manufacturer brought the help I needed
    • The channel up and down buttons stopped working
    • The cable or Satellite box can also be set to selected favorites with the top favorite channel selected as the power on
    • Worked great for 6 weeks, then would not change channels and was past amazon return date, Will see if manufacturer will step up.
    • But within 4 months the channel up and down button is no longer working so Mom is stuck with one channel until I find another remote!
    • When she wants to "punch in" a particular channel, instead of laying on the Channel Up or Channel Down button on the Tek Pal, she just grabs the old Orion remote and gets her channel that way
    • On/Off, "Mute", Volume, Channel (we restricted the channels on the TV, so it's just 2 channels and she won't get lost)
    • Buy it for those in nursing homes, especially if you program it fortheir favorite channels
    • then suddenly the channel up/down buttons didn't work.
    • Program Cable or Satellite to the favorite channel, also set the box to power on at that channel
    • The channels were all numbered differently, as well, so nothing was where she expected
    • For her, it simplifies selecting channels and gives her confidence
    • We got around this by buying an amplified indoor antenna (the square kind that lies flat, about 1/2 inch high) and kept our fingers crossed that it would pull in enough channels
    • Although the remote was very easy to set up with the TV and direct TV box, I didn't realize that you can not program favorite channels
    • However, he has commented that it's a little inconvenient because he can't see the channel number as it flashes on the screen, so he doesn't know if he's on the right channel until the commercial is over
    • You can no longer connect your HDTV directly to cable and use its built-tuner to receive basic channels (thank you FCC)
    • Buttons all worked for a week and then the channel changing buttons stopped working
    • The old remote (the one that came with the tv) was very particular in the way she needed to hold it to change channels or work the volume keys
    • My mother-in-law was always having trouble changing channels on her TV.
    • Just a comment regarding this product - we bought it with the idea that it would help my 90 year old father-in-law who is almost blind change channels, however this remote isn't compatible with the receiver for satellite tv.
    • This method works if only one station or pre selected favorite channels are watched from the cable box or satellite dish
    • Its a very slow channel up & down button, and quickly becomes more frusterating than anything else
    • up.)Mom is in her room watching her television and does not dread changing channels or adjusting the volume anymore and that makes this item 5+ stars in my book!Shipping was quick and item was received in perfect condition
    • The original one we bought her and each of the two replacements all ended up with the same problem: the channel up and down buttons stopped working, rendering them useless
    • There is a way if the viewer only has a favorite channel or just a few favorites that can only be viewed by the Cable or Satellite Box
    • For my mother with dementia though, even just a few channels would be fine, so I removed the cable box and plugged the cable wire directly into the back of the TV - she just uses the remote with the TV.
    • You can no longer connect your HDTV directly to cable and use its built-tuner to receive basic channels (thank you FCC)
    • She had problems getting to the correct channel, turning the TV on and off, changing volume, etc.
    • I definitely recommend this as of now for any elderly person with memory problems.
