Falcom's in top form and Cold Steel III might just top Trails in the Sky SC if this level of quality can be expected from it

I highly recommend Cold Steel 2, BUT you should without question play through Cold Steel 1 before picking up 2, as it's very much a direct sequel that hits the ground running.

It is pretty essential to play the first one before the sequel for a couple reasons: you will more than likely be lost in terms of story and characters, plus you can transfer your clear data from the first one which gives you a bonus when beginning the game and also carries over story data involving a romantic bond with one of your female classmates from the first one (if you ended up doing so)Trails of Cold Steel II begins about one month after the conclusion of the first one with main character Rean awakening from an unconscious state and finding the land has been engulfed in civil war

Fantastic game, but should really be called Trails of Cold Steel act 2

Trails of Cold Steel II is the direct sequel to Trails of Cold Steel, and it improves upon virtually everything the first game had to offer

The Trails of Cold Steel series of games are fantastic through and through

If you are a fan of JRPGs, then play the original Trails of Cold Steel first

I don't think you need to play all of the old games, but I would play Trails of Cold Steel I first

In terms of gameplay, while the combat system was already excellent in Cold Steel 1, they managed to improve it even more in this game through the addition of something called "overdrive

If you love Trails of cold steel 1, you'll love this one too.

I throughly enjoyed playing Trails of Cold Steel II, more than I did playing part one

The game improves over Cold Steel 1 in a myriad of ways, with the most notable difference being the change in pacing between Cold Steel 1's school shenanigans to 2's more turbulent adventure

The Trails of Cold Steel series is a great introduction the the Legend of Heroes series

One of the very best JRPG's to come out this year, you have every reason to pick up Cold Steel 2 if you consider yourself a fan of the genre

I highly recommend playing the first one, Trails of Cold Steel 1, and if you have time start with Trails in the Sky, available on PSVITA, PSP, and STEAM.
