I have a DSL connection and use the TP-Link to drive a Roku2 that is far enough away from the wireless router to degrade things continually.

Had they located the unit plug just 1/4" toward the top, things would be so much easier

Another thing, if you have a power hungry electrical monster eater like a microwave or treadmill, it will mess up the signaling

I tried various things to bump up signal strength, wi-fi extenders, different routers, different network adapter cards and all that to keep it from dropping and have a steady strong connection

One important thing to keep in mind: since these need to be connected to the wall outlets directly (and not thru UPS), you can't have it up and running during a power outage.

This is an amazing thing for all in home networking when you don't want to deal with running cables through or under the house.

So other than that annoyance, these things worked great out of the box.

But even if you plan to do what I did which was deploy a couple access points, an Xbox, 2 FireTV boxes, and a few other hardwired goodies then I would say go for the bigger gigabit unit because the sad things is ALL of my Powerline adapters are being capped down to 100Mbps once they get ready to hit the gateway, divide that by the 6 boxes I own

I have a 100Mbps connection and this thing could only deliver an inconsistent 15-20Mbps with serious dips

Works perfectly, it feels like both are plugged to the same router using an Ethernet cable, not the garbage I had with the Wireless network, however not everything is perfect, there are two power strips that didn't work with this device, one is this: Belkin BE112230-08 12-Outlet Surge Protector, is a shame because to it I have connected all my gaming consoles and I really want it there, but well I already free up an outlet near the TV so the next units arriving will be plugged there, so I will replace the Laptops and Living room devices connectivity from Wireless to Powerline
