    • The hard drive is much better than the stock hdd on my macbook, the writing speed is much
    • The USB3.0 enclosure makes the old hard drive an exceptionally fast external unit, as well.
    • I was using a more recent model Mac with a 1 Terabyte mechanical hard drive, and it had become unbearably slow over time
    • Note: make sure you order the correct drive -- this is very specific to your Mac model and type!Once installed things just worked.
    • Used it to replace the hard drive on my daughter's mac and then used the old hard drive in the enclosure for an external hard drive for her.
    • Installed the hard drive on my 2012 Macbook Air and so far so good
    • The bay makes a perfect external hard drive
    • This drive is extremely fast and responsive
    • If, like me, you swap hard drives before breakfast, this drive and enclosure are everything you want, and nothing more.
    • Top notch performance boost (read and write speeds) compared to Apple's drive.
    • Before restoring your hard drive you need to make sure it is not encrypted or you will keep seeing the option to use the hard drive as a source greyed out
    • Who knew installing a new hard drive in a MacBook Air was so quick and easy?
    • The drive is working great in my MacBook

    • Honestly can't tell if this is making the system faster overall, but it works seamlessly and as another user indicated the ONLY indication from the system that there was a change in hard drive came from DropBox, which asked us to re-login!
    • awesome upgrade, best way to get more hard drive space without spending an arm and a leg to buy a new macbook air.
    • I now have a supper fast external drive.
    • I erased the drive just to be sure it wasn't partitioned, but it still claims to be 120GB.I'm particularly angry because I needed to get my SSD transitioned to a larger device ASAP since I'm in the process of selling a PC that has data I wanted to transfer to this disk
    • The kit did everything it said it would -- and the drive is fast as well
    • Use Mac OS Extended (Journaled)4) Select the top hard drive (Macintosh HD), it should be greyed out and go to the recovery section.5) Select the unlock button from the top bar

    • It turns out that i just needed to un-encrypt my hard hard drive which was easy enough, but it was confusing until i went to the website.
    • I was a little bit skeptic about using a third party SSD into my mac, but this solid state drive is amazing
    • That night, it took about 20 minutes to make the switch, and most of that was idle time while the computer backed up the hard drive
    • and I've doubled my hard drive space
    • And now I have a stupidly fast SSD-based thumb drive.
    • As always, reality is somewhat less rose-colored:I followed the (very sparse) instructions and installed the new drive stick into the included enclosure (which allows you to backup your existing drive to the new drive first - very clever).
    • Also right off the bat i can tell my transcend hard drive is faster than the original
    • I had to go to the website to figure out why my hard drive was grayed out and unable to copy.
    • If you're a consumer that has never done a hard drive swap, you may need additional hand-holding and should probably seek assistance.
    • But this way you are left with a super fast external drive.
    • Although I had been told that upgrading the hard drive on a Macbook Air was not an option, some research on Google proved otherwise and the Transcend JetDrive always came highly recommended
    • Upgraded macbook and very happy - just won't think about hard drive space long time from now.
    • The bay makes a perfect external hard drive
    • Installed the hard drive on my 2012 Macbook Air and so far so good
    • If, like me, you swap hard drives before breakfast, this drive and enclosure are everything you want, and nothing more.
    • Some people got slower stock drives in this same model by luck of the draw so those folks will see a bigger boost
    • It's nice to have such a fast little external drive, too, though it's hardly as portable as a USB stick.
    • And Transcend includes their excellent aluminum case that makes migration easy AND lets you turn your old flash drive into a handy external drive.
    • The drive seemed a little sluggish to start, but as soon as I repaired permissions, it was screaming fast
    • a MacBook before-- screwdrivers worked well, and the procedure was fast and painless; having an external drive now is welcome.

    • And as a plus, the old drive works as an external drive
    • We quadrupled our storage with this upgrade AND gained a 128 GB external drive with the nifty USB enclosure that comes with the kit.
    • Extremely easy to install, and the kit, (which comes with a hard drive enclosure for "recycling" the old hard drive and the tools necessary) is great!
    • so I won't waste the old drive
    • The disk enclosure that comes with it makes cloning the original drive (or installing a new system) simple and you get a nice, compact fast SSD external drive when you are done.
    • As a modification, drag the drives from the left bar to the source drive
    • Installing the new hard drive was easy, but the cloning of my old hard drive was not.

    • If you are looking to increase the capacity of your Air's hard drive and you need a kit that is easy to use, I recommend this one.
    • I installed this myself and it worked but the instructions were hard to understand so I ended up accidentally erasing my whole hard drive!
    • but you need to be v precise in following the instructions when it comes to transferring data to the new HD.
