This USB 3.0 unit is much faster than any 2.o unit, but still not as fast as it claims to be.

If you plug this into a PC or MAC that doesn't support USB 3.0 or SATA3 HHD's then you won't see any improvement in speed

The usb 3.0 is faster than transferring from camera, just a small fraction of the time.

USB devices' speeds can be really hit or miss, and I haven't used this on USB 3.0 yet, but it is, without a doubt, the fastest USB 2.0 reader I've ever used.

I only have USB 2.0 but it works fast and no driver nonsense was required.

Be aware that you need a PC with a USB 3 controller (ports) to enjoy USB 3.0 speeds

Granted, the printers is on USB 2.0 but everything else using USB 3.0 works fine on my computer

It comes with a robust but very short USB cable (18 inches/45 cm) that has a non-standard plug for the end that goes into the device, so you can't attach a longer standard USB 3 cable

+5 for USB 3-1 for having a totally unnecessary proprietary connector on one end of the USB cable-1 more for shipping a [proprietary] USB cable that's only 18 inches long and can't be replaced with a standard USB cable!

I would recommend this product to anyone who wants a faster usb reader, just make sure you have usb3 ports on your pc!

I bought this Transcend model for three reasons - it supports USB 3.0, it supports a wide variety of card types and it was made by Transcend, a brand name I have grown to trust over the past 3 to 4 years

Like it, only problem is that it comes with a weird usb cable which if lost means you're screwed because it doesn't fit the standard a to b usb cable

I also broke down and picked up a cheap usb 3.0 pci card after a couple weeks and now it averages in the 85-95 mB/s range but sometimes over 100 and never under 72-73 ish.

USB 3 speeds are much faster than USB 2.Also, in case anyone was wonder a Blue LED status light blinks during data transfer and when it's turned on ( not specified in the description).

It is self-powered via the USB connection, it does accurately transfer files at proper USB 3 speeds according to my benchmark tests and doesn't get hot like some cheap card readers do
