Tripp Lite 1500VA Smart UPS Back Up, 900W Rack-Mount/Tower, LCD, AVR, Extended Runtime Option, USB, DB9 (SMART1500LCDXL)

    • There was a comment posted at one point saying it was loud, they must have had a defective unit or something because this thing is incredibly quiet
    • Every thing seems fine
    • We have had this unit in service for over a year and have nothing but good thing to say about the clean and stable backup power being provided.
    • I have moved it from my main system (can't trust it) and use it to keep clocks and unimportant things running with very little load
    • Admittedly this product isn't the most exciting thing to review... really it just sits there doing its thing.
    • It finally slowed down and became less loud (after it's initial start-up), but it's still the noisiest thing in the room by a huge margin.
    • I have better things to do fight with this thing or with customer service
    • My PC is the loudest thing in the room.
    • The good thing is that it can be turned off when not needed.
    • So to be clear a week on and off spikes to 140V and drops to 100V and these things protected everything connected to it thanks to the bult in automatic voltage regulation.
    • Also, these things consistently fail to work after power surges, yet the user has no indication that the internal circuitry is bad, unless a power outage happens, at which time all data is lost
    • I have had this unit for about a year, then it began to do strange things
    • I honestly can't believe how loud this thing is
    • I contacted the tech support again, and they told me that the problem was in my PC, that it had some kind of too short response time and recommended me to buy a different unit for $550.Even if this was the case, there should be some kind of warning about this, telling the buyers that this unit doesn't work with all computers, otherwise people would buy useless thing
    • Registration at their website was one of the dumbest things I have attempted in years
    • These things fail after power surges, but give no alarm
    • But then, after @ 6 months ownership I started to notice strange things.
    • However, the most annoying thing about this UPS is that after power is lost and then restored, it doesn't automatically switch back on
    • Also, these things consistently fail to work after power surges, yet the user has no indication that the internal circuitry is bad, unless a power outage happens, at which time all data is lost
    • When the batteries on my APC BR1500G failed the self test after 5 years I figured this would have been a good time to get a rack mount UPS for my server rack
