Upon plugging the device into an outlet in Korea, I heard a loud pop and it knocked out electricity in my hotel room.

Electrical pop, burning smell and black ash all over my hand, the first time I plugged it in.

but at my next hotel, it did the same thing - a loud pop and followed by no power in my room.
