Tripp Lite Keyspan High-Speed USB to Serial Adapter, PC & Mac (USA-19HS)

    • I bought a cheap USB-serial cable from eBay and used some free PL2303 drivers that I downloaded.
    • The detachable usb cable is nice if you want to use a longer or shorter cable
    • The adapter has a short detachable USB cable, which is probably fine for most applications; but if you need a longer one, you can substitute.
    • After having problems adapting the serial cable from my Meade LX200 telescope to my laptop computer, I came across a blog about the Tripp Lite Keyspan.
    • The detachable standard USB cable -- which lets us connect whatever length we need, and the LED -- which shows when we've opened the virtual COM port, are valuable features that make this unit worth a bit more than some economy models.
    • I bought a defective cable that would not work, make sure you get a good brand cable.
    • The computer has no serial ports, but the Duplimate came with an adapter, as well as a serial cable.
    • Solid build, nice separate usb cable (included) that can be easily changed fro longer or shorter lengths
    • very straightforward—connect the serial cable to the adapter and the USB end of the adapter to your computer, make sure to use COM3 as the serial port, and you should be all good to go
    • I like detachable USB cable which allows longer or shortage cable to suit application
    • I bought a defective cable that would not work, make sure you get a good brand cable.
    • It also covers using the cable with various popular devices, like a Palm Pilot and Virtual PC.
    • There are a lot of cheaper cables available and many of them use iffy parts
    • Although there are numerous PC programs and interface cables available for this purpose, there is nothing for the Mac
    • This cable and drivers have always worked for me on my laptop.
    • I know this cable is much more expensive that the cheap-o ones you find elsewhere, but if you're a Mac user, don't waste your time with any other USB-serial cable.
    • This is a great cable and worked great for what I needed it for
    • USB cable plugs into one end but nothing secures it there
    • The only problem is the only USB cable that maintains a positive lock is the one that came with it.
    • Given this model uses a standard detachable USB cable, I no longer have to worry about needing to discard the electronics when a customer steps on my laptop
    • The biggest gripe everyone has with this is that the included USB cable is not molded to the adapter, nor is there any sort of way other than some super strong adhesive to secure the cable to the adapter
    • Durable, replaceable cable
    • No problem, I had the serial cable that came with the Duplimate.
    • I know this cable is much more expensive that the cheap-o ones you find elsewhere, but if you're a Mac user, don't waste your time with any other USB-serial cable.
    • Works as it should once I
    • Works as it's supposed to.
    • As a matter-of-fact it is the only rs232-to-usb I would recommend as it is the only one I tried that actually worked!!
    • I plugged in my serial devices to the Keyspan and they worked just as they did when I plugged them in directly to a serial port
    • Unit worked exactly as it should, don't waste you money on cheaper ones, this is the one that works
    • Not a technical review, but I installed the software and it worked as it was supposed to
    • Thank you in advance!Jerry L
