I bought a cheap USB-serial cable from eBay and used some free PL2303 drivers that I downloaded.

The detachable usb cable is nice if you want to use a longer or shorter cable

The adapter has a short detachable USB cable, which is probably fine for most applications; but if you need a longer one, you can substitute.

Given this model uses a standard detachable USB cable, I no longer have to worry about needing to discard the electronics when a customer steps on my laptop

The biggest gripe everyone has with this is that the included USB cable is not molded to the adapter, nor is there any sort of way other than some super strong adhesive to secure the cable to the adapter

As a matter-of-fact it is the only rs232-to-usb I would recommend as it is the only one I tried that actually worked!!

I plugged in my serial devices to the Keyspan and they worked just as they did when I plugged them in directly to a serial port

Unit worked exactly as it should, don't waste you money on cheaper ones, this is the one that works

Not a technical review, but I installed the software and it worked as it was supposed to
