Took me a while to figure out how to program the transceiver to steps of 5 MHz, as it is full of great options and features
-
I like the features this unit "can offer" over all
-
The other general features of the radio work fine.
-
Very good features in this radio
-
Plus” version are disabling busy lockout by default, fixing solder issues that had been causing some of the components to lift off the board, improving the crossband repeating features, etc.
-
The radio has some great features like quad band, and cross-band repeater functions.
-
The ability to separate the face of the radio from the body is a nice feature where you don't have more of the radio to install under or in dash then necessary.
-
Dual receiver function is a nice feature.
-
With the cable, it is possible to re-flash the radio with a firmware version that disables this "feature".3
-
Amazing features for such a little, inexpensive radio.
-
Radio has an annoying 2 tone feature when in scan mode it stops on a frequency every time with the tone
-
Feature rich.
-
The Yaesu FT-8900 likely has a more solid keypad mic, but you’ll pay nearly twice the cost and (ironically) lose some features
-
Newer models may correct a few "features"
-
But the feature and functionality works great
-
Probably biggest gripe about the unit is that it is FM only, making the 10m and 6m feature not very useful (at least for me)
-
Could not disable this "undocumented feature" and returned
-
and I really like the detachable front feature
-
Could not disable this "undocumented feature" and returned
-
Second issue is the transmit "busy" feature
-
It is a full featured easy to use radio that sounds just great.
-
So far, the transceiver is working as it should.
