Ubiquiti EdgeMax EdgeRouter Lite ERLite-3 512MB Memory 3 Ethernet Ports Router

    • After the initial email from support at Ubiquiti, I sent many emails back to them informing them of my issues and trying to see if there were any configuration changes or even beta/alpha firmware available that might fix the problem
    • The firmware has drastically improved from the earlier versions
    • Very buggy firmware (EdgeOS)
    • However, they all seem to be a work in process with significant firmware updates coming less frequently than many users would like.
    • Upgraded the firmware to 1.5 which made available a 1 WAN + 2 LAN wizard.
    • be sure to upgrade the firmware when you get your unit, mine was several iterations behind and having the new firmware would have made some of the configuration easier because they updated the GUI a bit.
    • One recommendation if you go this way, update the firmware right away
    • The current firmware is easy to use and the most common configurations for home / small offices are trivial
    • The new firmware makes it even easier to configure with the wizards.
    • I also did try to sign up for their forums, as I saw they had an alpha firmware available, but I never did get the confirmation email after trying to join the forums.
    • This was actually very easy to achieve completely in the GUI without using CLI at all using Firmware 1.9
    • Hopefully all units shipping now have a new enough firmware to provide a wizard style setup for basic use.
    • Excellent build quality, exceedingly good firmware
    • Downside is it lasted 6 months before the flash corrupted & started getting I/O errors.
    • I recently upgraded to 1.3.0 and noted the addition of a first time setup wizard though I can't speak to how it works as it doesn't let you launch the wizard if you're already up and running.
