Ubiquiti EdgeMax EdgeRouter Lite ERLite-3 512MB Memory 3 Ethernet Ports Router

    • I feel bad that I don't have nice things to say about this router, as so many experienced people rave about it
    • I referenced a handy blog post for a bit of help when things got rough: http://www.nathanhunstad.com/blog/2014/08/adventures-in-networking-setting-up-a-home-network-with-edgeos/
    • This thing should handle even the fastest of home Internet connections,If you have one of those crazy "cisco" console cables, this bad boy does have a console port.
    • This thing is rock solid, and fast
    • It is also "just a linux box" under the covers, so if I want to, I can probably use cron, and other techniques to manage the box and get it to do useful things
    • I was fed up with retail all-in-one routers, so after hearing a lot of good things about Ubiquiti and especially this router, I decided to give this a try
    • Pretty simple things like setting up a dynamic DNS service.
    • Absolutely loving this thing.
    • The thing barely gets warm with a medium sized family streaming on 5-6 different devices non-stop.
    • and that's a good thing IMO, its clean and
    • The web interface is ok, but if you need to do things more complex than simple routing and port forwarding, you must learn the CLI.
    • I'm still poking around Ubiquiti's forums and finding cool things to do to make use of
    • I thought the thing was dead.
    • Another thing worth noting is that once set up properly, this router is very stable and does not have intermittent issues like consumer routers that I have dealt with.
    • If this thing gives me any trouble or so much as hiccups, i will update my review
    • Especially compares to your UniFI AP spots.. those things are freakin amazing
    • This thing is amazing
    • Overall, this thing has performed like a champ for the month and a half I've had it.
    • Love these things.
    • This thing is really loaded with features and can outperform some of my business equipment that costs thousands more
    • These things run hotter than I would like.
    • Ubiquiti is actively updating the firmware, and various things have become much easier to configure in the past year (ex. site-to-site ipsec vpn), so that balance is changing towards more user-friendliness
    • The worst thing is that I've wasted ~15 hours over the past 8 months troubleshooting stupid problems caused by this that I didn't immediately realize were related to this cheap, buggy hardware.
    • I do not know if I can say enough positive things about this little router.
    • I absolutely love this thing
    • Positive things about the AP, were that the software interface is top notch, really like the ability to customize the names of connected devices (vs. just a MAC number), and the AP range overlay on a Google Map is pretty neat
    • This thing does pack some pretty impressive stats and works pretty good from what I can tell, however this is very limited documentation associated with the product so unless you're familiar with using the command line interface and know all the commands, I would suggest avoiding this product
    • I did get a little (okay totally) crazy with some geo-based firewall rules and managed to slow the thing down to a
    • Downside is it lasted 6 months before the flash corrupted & started getting I/O errors.
