USB 3.0 Dual Hard Drive Docking Station with UASP for 2.5/3.5in HDD/SSD – USB 3.5" SATA HDD/SSD Dock - SATA 6 Gbps

    • If you’re running Windows, make sure you properly unmount the hard drive with the Windows tool for this
    • At one point I had my old stuff on a backup drive, but foolishly I striped the drives, so when one crashed I lost that data
    • A fine four-bay docking station (dock), but with an inadequate power supply that prevents full use with the heaviest hard drives
    • Without active cooling, drives will get uncomfortably hot
    • Would recommend for anyone (like me) with old hard drives lying around who want access to the data without the hassle of installing into the PC.
    • My drives are either working very hard, or idle, with little in-between
    • We had been looking for an external hard drive carrier just like this one, that would accept a raw hard(s)
    • I have this model and a previous StarTech dock 2.0 as well, they are a lifesaver - both work perfectly with both hard drives and SSD's, Mac and
    • I've tried other brands, but often either:a) there is not enough power to support 4 drives simultaneously; and/orb
    • It likely will not disconnect, but the wobbling will likely cause drive to die a lot faster due to vibration
    • StarTech.com USB 3.0 Dual Hard Drive Docking Station with UASP for
    • First dock was DoA, neither computers I tried hooking it to were able to recognize any of the hard drives I tried hooking up to it
    • Recognized and copied from several SATA 3.5 inch and laptop hard drives
    • Connected it up as soon as I got it, and I was able to access files from two hard drives taken out of old computers that stopped running.
    • Sometimes partitions would appear formatted RAW, other times the computer would just hang trying to finish loading the hard drive partitions or in any attempt to access the data.
    • The previous generations of this product the drive was nice and tight, now the drive will wobble due to small vibrations from drive spinning, this is not good
    • It works, but doesn't feel like a solid build, which causes a bump to drop your drives from being recognized.
    • Works great to access internal hard drives removed from computers.
    • This model works fine, I can turn off or on individual hard drives as I please no problem.
    • I have used it with Macrium Reflect (the free version) to clone the hard drive of two different laptops to SSD.
    • Only have been able to get 2 hard drives at the most to function at a time
    • This forcible eject issue causes the then (re)mounted drives to rebuild their directories
    • You see, I was an early adopter with home PC's, so needless to say I have a lot of old hard drives around the house
    • CineRAID has a dual bay dock that suffers from the same unmounting issue as the CineRAID (but that's not an issue if you only use its drive cloning feature).Removing one drive while the other remains mounted is well within the range of use any company should expect a customer might attempt, so shame on CineRAID and Startech for not simply noting in their product description that you need to unmount both drives before removing one
    • But remember, slow drives (5400RPM or less) and your transfers will be slower
    • No more needing to get an enclosure to plop an internal hard drive into, just to do your thing with it
    • Apparently other earlier models had problem with turning off individual hard drives
    • The hard drives will take only the amps they need--a maximum of eight amps for a couple of seconds at start up but then about three amps normally (from the Seagate specs)
    • If your computers have USB 3.0 ports and you’re using fast drives (7200RPM or greaer), your file transfers wil be blazingly fast
    • Since I always need more drive systems available I researched long & hard to find a perfect USB 3.0 external removable system for my library of hard drives
    • The previous generations of this product the drive was nice and tight, now the drive will wobble due to small vibrations from drive spinning, this is not good
    • If I only have drives in the left side of the unit, it would be nice if only the left cooling fan turned on and vice-versa.
    • Every now and again I get the bit of vibrations noises from the drives & the unit, but this is easily remedied with a small cloth (or a 15"x15" microfiber towel) on top of the drives and put 2 hard drives on top of the cloth
    • If an operation is ongoing on drive A while drive B is inserted/removed, the operation will be interrupted and filesystem corruption may occur
    • This is one of the best hard drive docks I have ever used
    • This is for anyone who has an internal hard drive laying around and wants to either wipe it clean, see if you can salvage what is on there, or still use an internal, but externally, vs. buying an external HD.
    • This is the most reliable USB 3.0 hard drive dock I have ever used
    • it spins down idle drives is a feature that cannot be oversold
    • Again works great, have 2 hard drives plugged and after the computer is on its easy to turn on both hard drives and can access both.
    • /usr/mntAfter mounting the drive, I used the Linux GUI file manager (Nemo) to copy and paste the files from /usr/mnt to an internal hard drive raid array
    • This is crucial if you are, say, running a drive utility on a new hard drive, or copying several terrabytes of files from one external drive to an internal one
    • Brought in hardware from home just to make sure that the hard drives were in fact good, verified all of the hard drives worked just fine with it
    • Got a replacement dock, when it arrived computers were able to recognize hard drives with it but weren't ever able to get at the data
    • Brought in hardware from home just to make sure that the hard drives were in fact good, verified all of the hard drives worked just fine with it
    • It likely will not disconnect, but the wobbling will likely cause drive to die a lot faster due to vibration
    • Of course if you are using slower drives you will experience slower speeds
    • Purchased dock to examine several old hard drives at work
    • We're able to erase multiple hard drives at once to get them ready for disposal.
    • One NTFS laptop hard drive generated an error message that it had not been properly closed by Windows.
