Was able to retrieve all my important documents from a dead mac.

This was a great way to repurpose my old Mac hard drive into an external portable drive

I bought this for data transfer from the drive of my dead Mac Mini to a laptop without realizing that I'd also get a cheap portable drive out of the deal
-
Works with Winodws 8 as well as Mac OS Yosemite.
-
I have had no problems using a single USB to microUSB cable (2M, good quality) with the unit rather than the dual USB to microUSB cable supplied with it
-
The case comes with its own Philips screwdriver for securing the drive inside the case as well as for the screws that hold the case itself together

-
It fits great and works as it should.
-
Works exactly as I need it to, simple to put together and no instructions needed
-
I recommend connecting both as it gives enough current to power the hard drive properly
-
I totally recommend it as in market its twice the price what you get here on amazon.
