I've tried some cheaper dash cams before and while the video is good at night, this unit is where it shines assince the resolution is very high, I can still recognize the plate numbers (still depending on the lighting/reflection) with a considerable distance from my car Operation - As with most dash cams, you install and "forget" these devices
