I have always bought Vic Firth Steve Gadd sticks and they have always had nylon tips which I prefer for practice as they last much longer.

Wood for warmer, nylon for bright and power

The long taper gives these a lovely balanced feel in the hand & the barrel tips articulate nicely especially when you're doing speed work around the kit, none of that feeling like you're throwing logs around
