WD 1TB My Book AV DVR Expander External Hard Drive - USB 2.0 - WDBABT0010HBK-NESN

    • The only disadvantage of expanders is that if the cable box goes out and needs to be replaced, you lose all your recorded programs because the file index is on the DVR
    • Now we don't have to worry about having to miss or dump saved programs when we are away or just too busy to keep up with everything we want to watch or at least try out.
    • My son hooked it up immediately and I did not miss any programs.
    • It can basically keep all my shows, my wives shows and the shows for the kids as well a recommend programs that we may like (we have not had space for that for a long time!).If you have had Tivo for a while this will breath new life into it.
    • Many times I had to erase programs I never got to
    • Only thing I'm nervous about is if it ever breaks then the Tivo will loss all my programs, but it's worth the risk
    • However with Directv it will disable your stored programs and you are only able to use the WD.
    • In my case, I lost about 50 stored programs each time the drive died
    • I have 4 HDDVRs and decided to test it out on one of my DVRs that did not have any important programs just in
    • I've recorded, watched and erased numerous programs, but I currently have about 14 hours of HD and 13 hours of SD shows recorded and it says 93% free.
    • Only thing I'm nervous about is if it ever breaks then the Tivo will loss all my programs, but it's worth the risk
    • really makes it nice to keep favorite programs and not have to scramble as fast to get the shows off the TIVO
    • You will lose all previously recorded programs
    • I am currently using an Over-The-Air antenna I mounted on my roof last fall so recording crystal clear High Definition programs is very satisfying
    • At first, some programs that were scheduled to record did not record and the available space reverted back to the remaining space as shown only on the DVR
    • Everything works perfectly and I didn't loose any programing
    • Just make sure you check that your DV-R is compatible.
    • OK so esata cable comes in mail and O' Happy Day for me, right?
    • Just make sure you check that your DV-R is compatible.
    • Doing that would double my storage to about 400MB.I ignored the advice and ordered this WD unit in the hopes that will work as it did for others using the 8300HD boxes
    • It was simple and works as it should.
    • Surprisingly, everything worked as I expected it to
    • The output from the DVR goes to the TV as well as to the DVD burner through my audio/video receiver.
    • It married to my TiVo easily enough and the recordings are as close to perfect as I expected
