WD 1TB My Book AV DVR Expander External Hard Drive - USB 2.0 - WDBABT0010HBK-NESN

    • Simple & easy...yet twice the storage space.
    • We now have enough storage for all the HD programs we time shift
    • Easy setup - love the storage
    • It's exactly what we needed to have enough storage.
    • Works great, my storage went from 80 % to 8% as soon as I started it
    • Very easy setup and massive storage .
    • Then 24 hours later, Tivo gave me an on-box message "External Storage Removed" and Tivo would not work without it--rebooted Tivo and came back w/ same message.
    • The perfect storage solution for 1 type of DVR
    • Needed the compatible storage for my DirecTV recorder.
    • On the whole, the extra storage is still worth the fuss to me, but I'm glad I arranged things so the cables are easy to reach.
    • I then went to the DVR List Menu, and checked the DVR Disk Info menu, and the additional storage was included and available, and all my Free Space statistics were updated
    • Be aware that a screen will come up when you try to install this external storage hard drive to your HD TiVo.
    • I assume it would work just as well as additional storage for a PC.
    • Worked right out of the box and is great for the extra storage compatible with DirecTV recorder.
    • I think that this dvr expander works like a hard drive storage device but it appears that it should be on all the time
    • When I went to a HDTV my DVR internal storage wasn't adequate to keep up with my storage needs.
    • I spoke in person (yes, I actually went to a TWC store) with someone who confirmed this fact and said if I want greater storage capacity, I will need to subscribe to a "whole house DVR"
    • Provides very reasonable storage capacity even for HD Video
    • Most of the blame for the lack of data protection lies with my DVR, as the Expander is basically a dumb storage tank
    • Simple to install, let's me free up storage on my receiver, protects my recordings, great addition to my Dish antenna
    • My DVR detected the drive on the first try and integrated it with the storage available for video recordings
    • While I appreciate the large storage space of the 1TB Western Digital AV Expander and the ease of installation, there are a couple of problems
    • This drive is very quiet, and has returned me to the abundant storage times that upgraded TiVo drives offered
    • It was sensed automatically by the system, setup was simple, and now I have almost unlimited storage capacity on my DVR.
    • I then looked for the best price as well as S&H.After reading many reviews here & elsewhere regarding frequent failure of the included SATA cable, I installed the hard drive
    • Then I saw this AV 1T external hard drive on Amazon
    • I then rechecked everything again and discovered an ID10T error (Idiot error from my time working on a help desk)
    • OK so esata cable comes in mail and O' Happy Day for me, right?
    • Just make sure you check that your DV-R is compatible.
    • Doing that would double my storage to about 400MB.I ignored the advice and ordered this WD unit in the hopes that will work as it did for others using the 8300HD boxes
    • It was simple and works as it should.
    • Surprisingly, everything worked as I expected it to
    • The output from the DVR goes to the TV as well as to the DVD burner through my audio/video receiver.
    • It married to my TiVo easily enough and the recordings are as close to perfect as I expected
    • After reading about problems on this unit due to bad E-SATA cables being supplied by WD, I bought another brand from AMAZON, and that fixed the problem
    • Others have had problems with e sata cable but mine worked fine.
    • The E-Sata cable works without issue
