    • If that bothers you... if it is too slow... you may wish to talk with your Internet Service Provider to see if there are upload speed options (a higher price).Just as an FYI... when this product uses the normal setup, the My Cloud "phones home" to Western Digital to let the system know where it is and what the dynamic IP address is, so that the laptop that you take on your trip or your smartphone you are using to take pix of your aunt's birthday party, know where to sync it's data and photos... that is ALL it is doing
    • Reviewers have complained about the device mysteriously going off line, losing its IP address, whatever
    • In addition, I assigned a static IP address and performed a system only restore
    • When I first got this thing I assigned it a static IP address through my router using a MAC address reservation, if you know how to do this (and your router can do it
    • I have taken the advice of other posters and turned off auto sleep function and have also given the drive a static IP address
    • Customer support isn’t great, doesn’t fix issues, or even more frustratingly an often/occurring issue will be addressed only to reoccur weeks or days later.
    • Static IP addresses should all be be either above or below those reserved for DHCP to avoid conflicts
    • The device is cumbersome to switch between multiple static IP addresses
    • The correct address is \\wdmycloudmirror
    • Even when logged in, it DOES NOT TELL you which device user you are, it just gives you the ambiguous email address
    • Still, the backup sporadically tells me that it couldn't find the drive (already set the drive to static IP address), although I could access it just fine from Finder
    • You are probably better off to set it up with a static IP address if you plan on just leaving it in one place
    • If you have static IP addresses, it will take some effort.
    • Setup was a breeze, just plugged it in, router found it and issued an address for my network with no trouble.
    • Get this thing on a static address one way or another
    • I have set it to use a static IP address with no benefit
    • Once you have it set for static, you cannot simply enter a new static address into the configuration page and reboot it
    • You have to switch from static back to DHCP, reboot it, find your new DHCP assigned address (make sure you know how to do this in advance with your router, or other DHCP server), then go back to the configuration page and set it back to static, and enter you new static IP address and reboot once again
    • For example, if your DHCP range is xxx.xxx.1.10 - 100 set your static IP addresses in the xxx.xxx.1.200 - 250 range ( 205, 210, 215, etc.
    • provided dynamic IP address changing and then not being able to access the drive until they power cycle the drive to reestablish a connection with the the MyCloud web

    • Assign a static IP address -- under Cloud admin tool
    • I can access all of this from my Window and Mac PC's, as well as, my smart Phones and tablets.
    • I use it for DLNA, Mac backup and mountable drive as well as for PC.
    • Borderline defective as of right now
    • This is a great network drive for your photos, videos, music, as well as for document backup
    • Bottom Line is it does work and does appear to deliver the promised results but it is nowhere near as easy or straightforward as the marketing leads you to believe.
    • Overall the device promises a
